You know something that I realized just now that makes me smile? In my PTA UF!Paps drabble on AO3, no one was upset or offended that he kept internally monologuing that the little boy who pushed his niece was overweight. I didn’t use words like “fat” or “obese” anywhere in it, but I definitely used “round”, “orb”, and narrated that he “waddles” at one point.

There were two reasons why I wrote that the way that I did: One, an overweight child CAN BE (not always) a sign of neglectful or coddling parents - and parents who either coddle or neglect their children can cause them to turn into bullies. Two, Fell!Paps, in my mind, would definitely look for any weaknesses in anyone he first meets, and is not at all reluctant to use them on the battlefield. He didn’t say the insults out loud to the bully kid because he wasn’t exactly fighting him, but he did mention it to his niece later on.

All that said, I would still like to lecture Paps on it under the cut:

“WHICH ONE WAS ‘BEVERLY’ AGAIN?”

“she’s blonde, i think. she tries to pawn off her fuckin’ gluten free ginger snaps on us all the damn time.”

“WAIT - IS SHE THE ROUND BLONDE OR THE TWIGGY ONE?”

“oh my god papyrus, you can’t say shit like that.”

“WHAT? IT’S NOT MY FAULT THAT HUMANS COME IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES!”

“no i mean you can’t just call people ‘round’, it’s fucking rude.”

“YOU’RE FUCKING RUDE - LIKE NINETY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE TIME!”

“fair point. but no, seriously, you can’t call humans names like that. they’ll pitch a shit fit if they hear you talkin’ like that.”

“THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ‘ROUND’? IT’S AN ACCURATE DESCRIPTOR.”

“they get sensitive and shit about their shape. don’t call humans round.”

“HMPH! I’LL DO WHATEVER I LIKE!”

“call anyone round or twiggy ever again and i’m cancelling helly’s royal guard training.”

“GRRR... VERY WELL.”

“‘preciate it, bro.”
