It’s not that I’m ungrateful for the pair of catbirds nesting in our yard, it’s just that when all of your foundational childhood experiences of catbirds were getting attacked by them for taking their berries it can make you a little twitchy to have them around
#PTCD#post traumatic catbird disorder#I grew up on a farm where we grew most of our own food which meant picking gallons and gallons of fruit#and they got so territorial over the black raspberries by the woods especially#unlike the mockingbirds they were never close to the house so that was really the only time I encountered them#birds#the habitat ring
