me @ literally 6am, waking up from sleep: what if that missing episode involving Lotor’s storyline was cut because it was to Allura and the White Lion what Space Mall was to Shiro and the Black Lion, and Lance was supposed to get that talk about being accepted despite being different from Blaytz, while Alfor’s talk was to Keith about how some people just aren’t made for leadership despite having all the potential for it

also me @ literally 6am: and part of the reason it was cut was because it had Allura still in love with Lotor which couldn’t happen for her to maintain her relationship with Lance, and the followup would then be Allura and Shiro guiding the rest of the paladins into Voltron’s mindspace to engage in the same kind of journey that they both were on, which is why the obstacles they came across had such connections to both Shiro and Allura

I did a couple of posts about it back when I watched it.  It’s not ‘deep’ but I had a lot of fun watching it, was pleasantly surprised several times by the way it skipped ‘drama for the sake of drama’ in little areas with the characters, ended up liking several characters more by the end than I’d started (and LOVING one of them), the fight scenes are glorious, the voice acting and music were top notch and it finished the season nicely while leaving questions for a second season.  I also got way too much satisfaction out of one fight that kicked the ass of a character I was enjoying not liking and I still think I should feel bad about that but don’t.  I watched it in sub, @noisypaintersong watched it in dub and it seemed like things mostly lined up the same.  Its not going to make you think Deep Thoughts about Life or anything but it was just simple fun Fun for me, which was such a nice change in a series.

plus there are some callbacks to the original ‘men in rubber monster suits with bad special effects’ that are either intentional or easy to take as such which made it a bit goofy at time.  Also for some reason aliens don’t seem to like wearing shirts and we never did figure out why.

You’ve got to keep me updated if you watch though!  Part of the fun of sharing is hearing how someone else reacts as to watching it as the show unfolds!

Just wanted to drop in and said I binged Voices this morning. Have to go back and read it more slowly to get all the details but I really enjoyed it! I hope you write more! Thanks for sharing!
