The many Apollos (and the nicknames I use to differentiate them) + Notes!
Scientist Apollo:
The only one who doesn't get a nickname - Considered the 'main' Apollo (Even if he might not be Apollo? According to some theories?)
Calm cool and collected (And possible a little unhinged). His appearance is meant to be neat and tidy
Electricity sparks in his antennas when he has an idea. They're constantly sparking
They also stay up straight for the most part
No button compared to the other Apollo designs (I originally put one and then erased it, but you can still see the marks). He'd prefer not to give people a way to mess with him
Bedtime/Storyteller Apollo:
The sweater man - Could also be considered Deadliest World's Apollo?
Named Hypnos, Greek God of Sleep, for the specific Bedtime appearance, and Nyx, Greek Goddess of Night, because his outfit reminds me of the night sky
He's meant to be a little softer around the edges, if that makes sense? Make him look more friendly and approachable
Screen has some either sticker or sharpied stars, moons, and planets placed on his head - Designs done by his friends
His antennas droop to mimic a sorta sleepy look
Potential spoilers for the rest of the Apollos, so I'm putting it under the cut just in case
Medieval Civilization 1 Apollo:
Named Kronos, a Greek Titan, for his madness and tyrant behavior
His antennas are messed up because of him pulling on them in frustration/fits of madness or anger (headcanon)
Some of the lines on his screen are messed up to show he isn't exactly the most stable state of mind
Pieces of armor for protection, but mostly unarmored due to arrogancy
Constantly standing tall with a straight back to appear intimidating instead of paranoid
Medieval Civilization 2 Apollo:
Named Glaucus, Greek God of Fishing (According to my research on google), for his affinity of fishing. Was originally gonna call him Poseidon but I think this is more fitting
No vents on the side of his head to avoid internal water damage. Instead it's like a panel with screws in the corner. He overheats sometimes, but it's fineeee
His antennas kinda droop at an angle, meant to mimic fishing poles at rest if that makes sense?
Parts of the lines on his screen are meant to be sort of wave like, I'm not sure if it's completely shown in the image
Not really shown in design, but like for design notes if I draw fullbody versions: Parts of his robotic body are covered in rubber, to better protect his inner mechanics and stuff
Winter Apocalypse Apollo:
Named Boreas, Greek God of the North Wind and Winter, for the theme of the video
His antennas are damaged because of flights as a kid (headcanon). The ends were engraved with snowflakes after he slayed Odin, as a mark of his action
The vents on the sides of his head are rather small, where his smaller wings would pop out (Inspired by @/rainyreyn9's design of Winter Apollo - I like his little ear wing things)
I had originally drawn him with his actual wings, but I ended up erasing them. I headcanon he has them folded against his back or pushed into another panel on his back
He carries his bow and quiver on a special strap with attatchments his dad made for him. This was later cut when Lukas attacked him, causing him to lose it
Evolved Invasion/News Apollo:
Named Hermes, the messenger of the Greek Gods, for the fact he is a news Anchor
His head is a slightly different design compared to the others - I tried to make it kinda modern and less boxy, if that makes sense
The line at the bottom of his screen is similar to a News Ticker (those lines of text at the bottom of the screen during the news). It'll sometimes turn his dialogue/thoughts into text, like subtitles, or help him convey messages without verbally saying things
His antennas are shorter for the same reason as his head, to be more modern. Unlike the others' antennas, they cannot move and are stuck pointing out
He can sometimes use them to connect to radios! Not always though
Desert Civilization Apollo:
Named Athen, after Athena, Greek Goddess of Warfare and Wisdom. Originally was gonna call him Aries, but this felt better because of his tendency to plan things out before jumping in (at least sometimes)
Parts of his screens are scratched or cracked (I did create more cracks than scratches whoops-) due to combat experiences
One of his antenna are bent for the same reasons - Damaged in a fight and only able to repair it somewhat
Installed panels on his head to prevent sand from getting in his head for the specific mission - Would be annoying to clean out
I kept confusing his skin for Deimos's for some reason, so I made his slightly more distinct by adding like a dark high neck underneath the shirt and vest
Zombie Apocalypse Apollo:
Named Deimos, the Greek God of Dread and Terror. I named him that mostly after the one scene involving his sister where he left her. I figured that's what he felt at the time
I kinda pictured him as like a younger Apollo compared to the others, so I kinda made his head a bit smaller lol
Covered in stickers, placed on him by his sister, who I'm calling Artemis, I don't remember if she had a name or not lol. There's a sun and a moon on opposing sides of his screen, while on the sides are planets and such
Antennas are bent due to him being like in an anxious state (Probably because of the whole Apocalypse thing) and partially from the plane crash
The tear in his shirt is actually part of his MC skin I believe, and I figured it came from the plane crash. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could have drawn like a scar or something there, would have been interesting
Headcanon: When a cult member dies and comes back to life, there are certain side effects that follow. These side effects alter the member’s body, changing it to become more demonic/monstrous in nature and/or appearance. The more a cult member dies and is brought back, the more demonic they become.
Explanations:
Ignacio: Was having a hard time finding a specific creature for him, but my boyfriend came in clutch and suggested the Namahage, specifically citing them specifically because of their habit of yelling "Are there any crybabies around?" He felt that this fit Ignacio's behavior, which I agreed to. There's no real fire element to them, but I wanted to incorporate it into his design because I liked it. He has died a decent amount, but his side effects aren't very prominent.
Magnus (OC): Associated and compared to dogs most of the time, so I chose a Hellhound for him. His teeth, specifically canines, and his nails have become sharper. They're not as sharp currently, but will grow out more once Magnus is angered. He can count how many times he's died on one hand, so his features aren't as prominent either.
Bob: Wendigo for Bob, mostly because of the cannibalistic tendencies. Horns were more inspired by Bob's mask than the creature assigned to him. Again suggested by my boyfriend. Bob's died a lot because he's reckless and careless, which just increases his hunger every time he comes back again.
Skiddad/Atticus: He's a mystery! There's no telling how many times he's died or even what his side effects are. He's certainly not telling anyone either - Anyone who's seen his side effects never seems to live to tell others what they saw. His design gave me the most difficulties, mostly due to his hair.
