With gas dropping to such low prices, many gas stations will put "out of order signs over their cheaper gas options (87, 89, etc) so that you will buy the most expensive option. This is almost always a lie and the pump will work just fine. A professor of mine told me this several years ago and I have used "out of order" pumps on several occasions. The pump has never failed to function properly
