I waited a bit too long to get my pumpkin. When I got to the store there were no carving pumpkins to be had, and they didn't even have the little pie pumpkins anymore. This was one of the stragglers sitting outside in the thinning pile of heirloom pumpkins out front.

At least my little one has a friend. Am still on the fence as to whether or not to carve the big one - if it turns out I can eat it, it's staying intact.
