The Phoenix Witch started as a camp fire story to scare children. Like our ghost stories, teenagers and adults would tell the kids of the lady in bird mask who roams the zones at night, collecting the souls of the dead and bringing things from the mailbox to the deceased. The story spread and the young children believed it was real. No one ever told them it was just a fairy tale. So when they grew up, it became the natural belief that the Phoenix Witch guided the dead to the afterlife. And then the sightings started. Whether it was one of the kids who became infatuated with the story and took the role of the Phoenix Witch, or the mythical being herself, a lady in a bird mask wanders the zones, collecting the mail for the dead.
