Isabelle stares at her brother, her lips pursed when he answers.
"As many as it takes for what, Dev?" Her voice hardens as she attempts to swallow her emotions down.
This is her big brother. She's always looked up to him and admired him for all the effort he puts into helping others, but watching him run himself into the ground again and again is getting to be a real sore spot for her. He's doing all the work others refuse to do. Their community is practically built on his shoulders. Even with Isabelle's contributions - her tutelage under Hades, Hecate, and Thanatos in addition to her helping Devlin where she can- it isn't adding up to be enough. Because no one wants to actually build anything. They want it already established.
"Where is your line exactly? The grave? Again?" She inquires, "When they can start fighting for themselves? When you're recorded in the history books as one of the best of us all? What, Devlin? What is your end goal here?"
She tilts her head and raises an eyebrow expectantly.
She doesn't understand how he isn't resentful that so much is being piled onto him. Why doesn't he appear to have boundaries or some kind of point that if a certain event were to happen, he'd stop altogether and tell someone else to deal with it?
