Spotlight on a Queer Community: QiTO

QiTO (Queers in the Outdoors/Queers Like Sports) is a collection of queer people at UCSB who celebrate the outdoors and engage in athletic activity together. Recently, the group took a trip out to the Colorado River, which I heard was really dope. They also do less time-intensive activities, such as volleyball and group runs.

From the page: “QiTO (Queers in the Outdoors/ Queers in Recreation) is an organization with a mission: to provide a safe space for queer and trans folks to be active and connect to nature. We will coordinate with the UCSB Recreation department and Adventure programs to provide subsidized programs and closed group classes. This is a no-shaming, John Cena-positive zone.”
