Quadri’s Characters
So I realized that almost none of you know very much about any of my characters, so I’m making a list, I guess! This is mostly for those ask memes but in case anyone was just plain interested in my OCs, here they are! These are just my main-er characters, though.
Lillian Star: Born into poverty, Star is small and agile, making for a perfect thief. She is married to Nora (depending on where in the story are, but I’m going with most recent here) and lives with Nora on her airship, The Victoria. They eventually have a kiddo named Milo.
Nora Karokaro: Nora has always been more comfortable in the air, and so piloting her late father’s airship came naturally to her (although she did attend a pilot’s school as well). She’s never been in one place for more than a year, and picks up all sorts of passengers along the way. She’s married to Star and really likes to write in her spare time.
Kirrlet: A medium-sized sphinx that lives with his mother out in the wilds of the Aletian mainland. He fishes as a job, selling his catches to the occasional traveling merchant. He eventually travels to the ingeniously named Cliff City.
Aisling: Also a sphinx, but a really small one. She is apprentice to an alchemist, and enjoys that kind of work, but would rather slack off, play harp, and yell at people. Kind of grumpy when you first meet her, but she’s actually agreeable for the most part. Friends with Theros and Kirrlet.
Theros: An Aletian trader that’s really, really into bugs. It’s too bad she can’t make a living off of poking at beetles, but it’s not a big bother to her. She also lives in Cliff City, in the Aletian part of the city.
Raavi: He’s old for an Aletar back then (by back then, I mean 224 Enlightened Era, as opposed to Frio’s birth year, 458 EE). He’s also a tailor and likes to act like he’s richer than he actually is. He goes on an ‘adventure’ with his nephew Rikki and their friend Elna to sell their wares to the northern population of Aletar. They come across Vera in their travels. He’s also a veteran of the “War of Extinction”, and doesn’t talk about it much. The once-common Ocean race of Aletar are now only a distant memory in both minds and remnant genes. (He’s also one of only three straight characters of mine oops. And the other two are really minor).
Rikki: He’s Raavi’s nephew, and loves to read and write, much to his uncle’s dismay. He’s clingy and self-conscious, but he’s sweet and doesn’t mean harm to anything. He tries so hard to earn his uncle’s approval, but he also wants to be true to himself and it’s tearing him apart.
Elna: She’s the daughter of a northern warlord and heir to his rule, though she’s not a real big fan of that because she just wants to do her own thing. She heads off with Raavi and Rikki so she won’t have to face that responsibility, and because she genuinely became fast friends with Rikki (and to a lesser extent, Raavi). She knows her way around a sword, though she doesn’t like using it unless she absolutely has to.
Vera: Came from an old desert outpost full of xenophobic desert Aletar. Everything there was accounted for, which caused Vera to yearn for life outside. She was close to becoming head of the scouting expeditions, but the arrival of a kidnapped Rikki gave her a chance to escape once they escorted him to the jail (which was apart from the main crater). She loves the bow, and frequently practices. She’s polished, but cold and rough. However, she has a soft-spot for the Ghosts, who are labelled as barbarians and monsters in Aletian society (Ghosts are relatives to the Aletar). She began a liberation and education movement for the Ghosts, since most didn’t speak a word of Aletian, and due to her work, they now are treated more equally in the industrial age than they were before. There is still much work to be done, however.
Frio: A small, agender Aletian Magi with the power to control the emotions of others (to an extent), but most notably they control fear. Aletar discovered the means to making magic in the late 310′s, though certain sphinxes have always had that ability. It’s a genetic mutation (don’t ask me how it works though, it just does ahah). Frio was Magi to a cruel but intelligent Aletar, Ivette, who was under the philosophy that one must make sacrifices in order to maintain hierarchy. Frio’s sacrifices weren’t of their choosing, losing and arm and half their tail due to trying to manipulate Ivette’s emotions. Their best friend is Poppy, and the two eventually make it into the wide world of industrialized Aletian/Ghost society. They were taken in by a bandit leader out in the scrubby plains of the central Aletian continent, and made to be his Magi too. Eventually, his Shaman/lover convinced him to step down after ailing health, and Frio and Poppy went out into the world and became small-time bandits and basically Aletian Robin Hoods.
Poppy: Ivette’s biological daughter and Magi. She grew up with Ivette’s brother, due to Ivette’s uncommon relationship with one of her Magi, who eventually became her bonded partner (and then died). Poppy can light things on fire, much to the delight of her destructive little heart, though she doesn’t usually hurt living things with it. She sticks around Frio as their best friend, and to help curb their self-destructive tendencies. She’s also the one that points the gun and the will-be-robbed, since Frio only has one arm and terrible aim.
Pyr: Half Aletar, half Ghost, Pyr is a Scribe for the Organization for the Betterment of Society. Her research can range from biology to the small-time farmers in the north, and anything that OBS requests more information on. Her main specialties, however, are botany and ancient architecture. She is girlfriends with Winnie, and they’re super gay.
Winnie: She’s an Aletian mechanic and has always lived in the Aletian back-country, deep in the old-growth forests of the east, near ancient sphinx ruins, which are the reason that Pyr came to her town. Winnie is very protective by nature, especially towards her girlfriend and her scooter.
Fennel: Not part of the Aletian universe, Fennel is a snarky, nonbinary shape-shifter. They live out in the woods and makes a living off of collecting “lost” items. They’re also running from the law, which is why they like Wanjin so much; because she’s big and can pound you to a pulp.
Wanjin: Another shape-shifter who is running from the law, but she murdered her brother, rather than just commit petty theft. She’s generally cold, even to those close to her, though Fennel’s just fine with this.
