Hi I really really love all your fish posts. I'm an astrophysics postdoc but fish are my favorite animals. What area of aquatic science specifically do you do? Are you a graduate student? A postdoc?
Funny story, "environmental and aquatic sciences" is pretty much it! My degree provides knowledge of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, their ecology, how to conduct research on the field and in a lab, the threats, opportunities and protection matters tied to ecosystems, and so on. There is no single branch of specialisation (pretty ecology-heavy though?), though I do wish to specialise in aquatic sciences as a graduate! I am but a humble undergraduate student, see. The aquatic science studies I can move onto are also pretty jack-of-all-trades, but it works just fine for me. Limnology, ichthyology and aquatic parasitology are all very interesting to me, I would have a hard time choosing!
