I am obsessing over this paragraph so much. Even though I despise Rodolphe so much he is (literally) a textbook Fuckboy.

This paragraph though. It's so beautiful. The phrase "monotony of passion" is so interesting (and says so much about this guy who's legit BORED? of his affairs? The almost-tragic disconnect between his intensity and Emma's, and of the nature of their affair itself, and how it appears universal in all human communications in the last couple lines. Just 💖💖💖
