Torania & Leliana

Torania accepted Leliana into the group from the get go. With Torania being a sucker for tales about heroes and Leliana being a storyteller they became friends rather easily. Leliana was also a teacher to Torania. Though Torania is able to be naturally eloquent when she so chooses Leliana taught her some of the intricacies of court language, finished her education on how to dress herself to look her best picking off from where her mother left off, And what she could do with a man. Torania also belives Leliana’s version of the maker for personal reasons and supports her in this.

Headcannon: Being a lady

Torania’s relationship with girly things and being a lady is rather interesting. She LOVES pretty dresses as long as they are comfortable. But dislikes wearing make-up and will avoid it when she can, Her hairstyle is the same no matter what and she pretty much always wears her wedding ring and locket.

So Chompers (Torania’s Loyal Mabari hound) got a lady mabari pregnant and she had a litter. The runt imprinted On Alistair, who promptly named him Barkspawn. (based on the fact that he names Dog this in the Darkspawn Chronicles DLC) Known as Barky for short, the male pup has learned how to make his owner fuss over him by running into walls and pretending to be injured. He also runs like Loca the pug in the video above.

Torania’s wedding dress - Antivan Lace

Torania likes pretty dresses as long as they are comfortable. She also does know how to dress her body shape. This was one of the “lady arts” Her mother did manage to drill into her some and any gaps in this education were covered by Leliana.

Headcannon: Torania’s relationship with companions

Alistair: BFF, Light in the darkness, and love of her life.

Zevran: BFF (Except for when she was trying to punch him) Brother in all but name.

Shale - Amused Torania. Torania liked her quirkiness and found the bird thing funny

Oghren - They were more comrade’s then friends. But Torania always made sure to give him and booze she found.

Sten - A debate partner when he talked to her.

Morrigan - Freinds though which was more surprised about it would be impossible to tell

Leliana - Torania loved her stories and found great comfort in her version of the maker.

Wynne - Torania valued her advise and was close to the mage.

A Partnership: Who rules?

Just want to make something clear. In my default headcanon Torania is not the one doing everything while Alistair wastes his time and twiddles his thumbs. Alistair is not a puppet king. Torania and Alistair work together as equals. There are things Torania can do Alistair never could. But there are also things Alistair can do that Torania never could

Torania will respond VERY poorly to someone implying that she “wears the breeches” in their relationship or when it comes to ruling the kingdom.

Torania and Alistair both have strengths and weaknesses. They are able to compliment each others quite well both on a personal level and when it comes to dividing politics.

Changes from the default in Torania’s letter to the Inquisitor

King/Husband: Kings sounds awkward and formal. Husband much better describes how she would describe his relation to her.

His/Our: It’s not just his kingdom. It’s theirs. They rule together, doing better than either could alone. Also Ferelden is her nation and she loves it.

Warden-Commander Cousland/Queen Torania Cousland Therein: Torania gave up being Warden Commander shortly after Awakening to better attend to her duties as queen. She decided trying to do both roles would be to much for one person if they really wanted to do them justice. Also she is no longer just a Cousland. She is a Theirin.
