oh god i just want to say i feel you so much with luke. i was sitting in the theatre thinking "o-okay he's... a little ooc right now but there will be a reasonable explanation right?" nope. rian fucked it all up. at least his confrontation with kylo was Superb.
i agree!
like. i can imagine him being sad, and disheartened, and hesitant, but...i also expect him to retain his old kindness, and compassion. like i honestly feel like once he found out han was dead, or leia was in trouble, that would’ve given him the motivation to spring into action. i agree with the idea that he was written more like han than luke (i forget who pointed that out, if anyone knows the url pls lemme know so i can credit!)
no but seriously, what happened to the “something kind in his eyes” that jj wrote about. where did it go
queenfurball replied to your post “I mean, yeah, Cinemasins has its problems, and I’ve personally been...”
If anything, Bob is fighting BACK against negativity. CinemaSins has convinced people to avoid perfectly good movies with uninformed and ignorant "criticisms". I've seen people actually decide not to see something because of those stupid ass videos.
Okay... but at some point we have to realize that content creators are not responsible for what their audience takes away. The cinemasins guys aren’t causing mass boycotts of films... hell, they’re not even really claiming to be actual critics.
I don’t even necessarily think they’re good at what they do.
But Bobvids videos aren’t helping. All he did is take the original Cinemasins format and make it pretentious.
At least with Cinemasins... being an asshole was their thing. So when Bobvids comes in to use their format against them... he kinda sorta comes across as a derivative pretentious asshole... and I’m sorry... bu I just can’t stand for that.
I must ask, what is the first song that plays on your blog? My computer does not show any song title. Your blog and opinions about the Doctor Strange movie give me life, by the by.
thank you! the way my mp3 player is set up it doesn’t give a song title, but the song from my blog is the lost elf theme from dragon age inquisition’s tresspasser dlc.
@queenfurball liked your post “Like this for a thing”
“Think of a card.”
I consider you one of my closest tumblr friends, and your Bobbi will always be the One True Bobbi for me. None shall compare.
Don't you just love it when you have a great immune system and rarely get sick. I don't cause that means when I do get sick my body self destructs and 9 times out of 10 I should be in the hospital. Do I ever actually go to the hospital? Nope cause I'm an idiot. A very sick idiot who feels like death.
Hey there! I'm a huge Dr. Strange and Clea fan, but I've only read so many comics in my life (toO MANY I want to read, not enough time). I read somewhere that they got divorced.. What lead to that, exactly?
wow, i’m sorry this got long. but i went through most of the journey to get where they are. there’s a TLDR at the end.
Well, technically, nothing in any comic has had them actually divorce.
but *sigh*. I don’t know how far you’ve read in older doctor strange runs. but i guess it all just adds up. So, Clea leaves to go fight/lead the rebellion (again) in the Dark Dimension back in like Doctor Strange V3. Stephen has a lot of shit going on at home so he can’t really go help, and Clea doesn’t exactly want him just coming in and doing all the work anyway. So, they’re still together but its a long distance thing, which is a relationship they had become used to and still functioned very well, just to point out.
Then shit gets even more wild, and Doctor Strange just can’t keep shit together and eventually loses the backing of the Vishanti and a lot of the entities he calls upon for magical power. So he hermits away trying to find new ways of magic and at one point Clea comes back to Earth to ask Stephen for help and she finds a Stephen who really can’t offer that help. And they have a very “we’re still in love and together” moment but again, must go separate ways to fulfill their duties.
So, that’s when basically Clea disappears from Marvel for a very long time. Writers seem to entirely forget about her, or for whatever reason seem to assume that Stephen and Clea are separated, when absolutely nothing indicates this. So you get this weird divide in people who write Doctor Strange for like… about 20 years. Where even Bendis talks about Clea leaving Doctor Strange, presenting as they’re broken up. With the timeline given, that’s not what happened. Canon Doctor Strange presents Clea and Stephen as never breaking off their relationship at these points. And, at this point Stephen and Clea are MARRIED and have been married for a while.
but anyway. Clea is forgotten for years and years and years. New writers come in, want to make their mark. Bendis, who himself has written that Clea and Stephen are broken up… with no canonical backing for this… continues Stephen and Night Nurse relationship. So, depending on how you look at it, there’s infidelity #1. Tho, by Bendis’ own shit… again… Stephen and Clea are broken up. but really, they kind of aren’t if you follow Doctor Strange and don’t take Bendis’ retcons at face value.
Then in Fraction’s The Defenders, (fraction seems to take canon from Bendis’ Doctor Strange in New Avengers and Illuminati, mind) has Stephen enter a one night stand with a young woman named Molly. They don’t continue this relationship any further. But there’s infidelity #2 (sort of). Then for some unknowable reason there’s some weird woman from Strange’s past that gets brought to the present, who he used to be in a relationship with and like, they just start banging. So… infidelity #3. (sort of). I say, sort of, because at the end of that run… its all kind of completely erased from happening. So these cases never canonically happened.
And yet, writers after seem to have never read the ending of The Defenders run because they talk like these explicitly happened and are standing canon. Writers of Doctor Strange in different books have even mentioned a dream sequence as being some canon that Strange has slept with Scarlet Witch. Even tho this dream also included Clea, in an obvious consensual situation. So, why this is evidence of Strange’s infidelities… no idea. but *SHRUG*
So, here you have one case of actual infidelity. and three fakes. And this has put into some writers minds that Strange is a prolific womanizer and can’t keep it in his pants. Ignoring decades of canon where he’s basically done just that except with Clea. A Deadpool comic even tried to joke on Strange having woman over at his Sanctum all the time for probably sex parties or something.
And so then comes Fearless Defenders. Where Cullen Bunn is obviously stuck in this weird world where Doctor Strange canon is all over the place. And he’s obviously also accepted the modern take on Doctor Strange that he’s a wild womanizer, of some sort. And so when writing Clea, Bunn wants to have some tension and has to confront the fact that in canon Stephen and Clea are still married, and she’s aware of his infidelities.
And so when Stephen and Clea finally get face to face, Clea has been avoiding him for a while as expressed in this book, Clea says “It is good to see you, Stephen. I want a divorce.”
and literally nothing more has come from it at all. That is exactly where we stand now. Clea is back in some weird limbo since the cancellation of Fearless Defenders. No idea on her status as of Secret Wars. and no writer has touched any of this in regards to Stephen. Who would be devastated, I’m just saying. But of course… nadda.
So. TLDR. Clea has asked for a divorce because of cheating, basically. But they have not in any comic actually divorced or explored anything beyond that. So, its kind of up to however you want to look at it at this point.
Or wait for the Doctor Strange comic in October and hope this gets addressed.
anyway. the entire situation makes me sad.
