You know what, I’ve been trying to give Ricky the benefit of the doubt with how he treated Gina, but the more I think about it, the more I see what horrible friend he was. For instance, hypothetically speaking, let’s say he didn’t take Ginas “I wouldn’t give up on us” comment as a love confession. Throughout the first half of the season, you can clearly see there is something wrong with Gina. Kourtney notices it when Gina says something in the locker room about needing Carlos’ party to be the best, and they aren’t even that close. Ashlyn notices it when she sees her being distant and stand-offish. They noticed it and asked her about. On the other hand, all Ricky cared about was about his own problems. He never even cared to ask Gina how she was feeling, even after he saw how distant she was being. If he really didn’t take her confession as her confessing her feelings, the least he could’ve done was be there for her as a friend. He always put his problems on her and expected her to always help, but he never the the time out of his day to ask her how she was feeling. So, even if he really didn’t fully grasp what Gina was saying when she confessed, it doesn’t make it better for him. He was still a bad a friend. Anyway you look at it, Ricky treated her horribly.
Sorry for the rant, I just had like a flush of realization that no matter what way you see it, he was horrible.
I agree with all this.
I don’t know what happened to Ricky because I thought during 1x08 he was a good friend to Gina when he was texting her, trying to check up on her because she couldn’t be a part of tech rehearsal. They were my bestie duo back in Season 1, but then Ricky got back with Nini and then he completely disregarded Gina and acted like she meant nothing to him, when Gina was the one who was there for him, trying to give him advice on his mom and her new boyfriend, but he took all of that for granted.
I don’t even see how a friendship will work between the two now that they haven’t even interacted for 6 episodes straight and Ricky has not apologized for the way he treated Gina. It’s like the writers literally do not care about giving them scenes anymore. They’re that ship that has one season together and then they never speak again. I’ve seen it happen a couple of times on other tv shows.
