It's pride month so let's talk about Kings of Gotham and the flavor of queer each character is! :DDD

*Edward is on the aromantic spectrum. He doesn't, "love" anyone and he doesn't see much point in romance and therefore doesn't seek out those kinds of relationships very often. But every once in a while he meets someone and becomes infatuated with them. Dating Edward is all honeymoon stage until he falls out of interest. However Edward is queer. Somewhere between gay and bi, I haven't decided yet as in canon it makes more sense for him to be bi but I can't imagine my Edward getting his rocks off with any women. And experiences sexual attraction often. Like most men on dating apps his romantic endeavors usually start as sexual, for example his past relationship with Oswald. Scriddler is the basis for this story so you'd assume it'd be the same with Jonathan. But Edward takes a liking to Jonathan because he's the first person he, "loved" before he was attracted to him in that way. His relationship with Jonathan doesn't change that Edward is aromantic but it introduces him to a new dynamic he hasn't felt before. Awe cute. (Now would be a good time to say that my general au and my Kings of Gotham AU are different and separate from each other. The dynamic between Edward and Jonathan is far more domestic and romantic in general AU.)

*Oswald is an allosexual gay man. He desires romance and sex. His affliction however is that he, like myself(my love of fictional characters is a tool for reflection lol) struggles with being hyperomantic. So you can see why his and Edward's relationship didn't work out. His expectations of what romance and how their relationship should work were too high for Edward who, again doesn't feel romantic attraction. He's not in the wrong there, neither of them are. They just didn't work. He took the break up hard and you'll see a lot of that in the later chapters of Kings of Gotham(which btw if you haven't read yet you really should, I posted chapter one a couple of days ago. I'll leave a link at the end of this post)

*Jonathan is bisexual but struggles with internalized homophobia due to his religious upbringing. Edward is his first male partner and he's torn in multiple directions for his love of Edward, his religious guilt, and the knowledge that he is enabling him. I mean if the first man you dated was evil you'd probably feel bad about being queer.

okay so my thought is that I want my mc to have a genderfluid sibling, but I haven't found any names that I absolutely love yet. this is for an Appalachian horror story I'm writing, if that helps at all. thank you to anyone who might help! :)
