Liminal Portrait No.6, Melissa, acrylic on paper collage, 2017.
A portrait of Melissa, a librarian and occasional music journalist based in London.
Liminal Portrait No. 3, acrylic on paper collage, 2017. This portrait is of Dominic, a dear friend of mine. He was probably the first queer trans person I met (online) who liked queercore as much as me! He's a talented film student/general buff, amazing drummer/musician, animal lover, insta documentarian and all round incredible person. For his portrait he described how he felt he'd always been and lived in the inbetween. From being a young queer and getting into bands, to starting hormones, navigating mental illness, and living life passing as male. "As a kid I was a big music geek but being a music geek wasn't for girls...ultimately music broke my heart. Being a butch dyke at the time, but wanting to be read as male, made for some unhappy times for me." Read about Dominic’s relationship with liminality on the ‘Portrait Exchange’ page.
