So uh I had a feeling this community would be able to help me but like

I have been feeling body dysmorphia for a while now about not having a pair of wings because I feel like I should have some. I don't believe I am a therian as I don't feel connected to any animal but anything could be possible. I believe it's more likely I am otherkin or something.

I do have a handful of questions though. Anyone who can answer I'd really like help from you, anything is appreciated.

1. Whats the difference between alterhuman and otherkin, if there is any? Can alterhuman as a label also be used to describe therianthropy? I don't know the difference between the three labels so I wanna know.

2. Is it phantom shifting if I feel wings on my back sometimes? I believe that's what it is but I need to be sure and stuff.

3. Could this just be me being neurodivergent and not therian/otherkin/etc? It is genuinely upsetting when the phantom sensations go away sooooo like idk, and it's not something I randomly pretend to have fun, it happens without my control

4. If I am an otherkin, how do I tell what creature I am? Because again I don't feel connected to any animals like that or anything. When I feel the wings there they're like big and have feathers, and I actually feel multiple sets.

5. If I am otherkin, how do I tell the people close to me? I'm sure most people in my life would be accepting of it but I'm still worried. Is it similar to how I came out as queer, like just ripping off the bandaid and saying it plain and simple? Or should I do it differently?

6. I know gear is not required to be therian/otherkin/etc, but if I am what are the best places to get gear? I believe wearing gear would make me happy.

Edit 9/27/25: I think it is safe to officially say I am otherkin. Idk my kintype yet but tysm to everyone who has been a help in figuring this out!

hello all!

i believe after some intense research and personal thought, i am not a therian-- but i am copinglink! i also believe that i am otherhearted, with a red fox being both my c'link type and my hearttype. it's taken me a long time to figure this out, as i still experience phantom limbs and minor shifts at some points. however, these only happen when i think about them -- not just by themselves. it helps me cope with a lot of things to just be a little fox for a bit!

i will continue to post and would also like to start doing moodboards for other species upon request! i love moodboards lol and theyre just really fun for me to make
