[ betrayal ] my muse finds out that your muse has betrayed them and confronts them about it
Though it’d been about a week since he first met the kid with wild hair, it’d only taken Sam a day to realize where his badge had gone. Unfortunately, it was a day too late, and it wasn’t soon enough to keep him from being reprimanded by the Police Chief. Since that night at the restaurant, Sam kept his eye out for the other, hoping to get his badge back with little hassle, or at least some answers as to where it went.
He’d had no such luck, until an odd Thursday night when he was off-duty. Sam stood at the intersection in the corner of Pioneer Square, adjacent to the little bookshop. Having just come from the theater, he was lighting a cigarette on the walk to his car when, through the flame, he recognized a mess of mousy brown hair leaving Toppings for the night.
Quickly, he removed the cigarette from his mouth and shouted “Hey!” from across the street, ignoring the crosswalk as he made his way towards them. He was only halfway across the road before they recognized who he was.
“HEY!” Sam shouted again the moment they took off, feet beating against the pavement as they headed toward the forest behind the shops, and disappeared into the dark.
“I just want to talk!” Sam shouted into the treeline, but there was little use. They were long gone.
