Red signs in common sign language (if your character knows common, they know the sign language). That’s why he can’t talk when running/fighting, and why he takes a moment to speak when just hanging around. He has to sign the whole phrase for people to know what he’s saying.

Saro is just doing that pretentious vampire thing of serving face before every sentence. If he’s ever not talking, like running or fighting, it’s because he’s too busy making the exaggerated faces of an overly dramatic immortal.
