“Hurry up Rockin'! You’re falling behind!” Copperhead huffed, glancing behind her to look at her partner. The rabbit hero quickly hopped across to the roof, looking down at the fray of akuma’s and hero’s mixing below. “Sorry! Got here late my mom needed me.” The boy’s ears twitched lightly, drooping out of guilt. Copperhead sighed lightly, giving him a light pat on the head. “It’s ok, but go! They need you!” The rabbit hero jumped off the roof, his tailcoat with the small bunny tail flapping behind him as he fell and landed with a neat roll.
Copperhead kept an eye on the battle, hanging back as always. Her fingers twisted around the snake miraculous, resetting second chance every so often. Her slitted eyes would flicker to Rockin' Rabbit every few seconds, making sure he was ok the most out of everyone. Occasionally, their gazes would meet and their eyes softened for moments, the fight melting from them out of unrelented love for the other. Copperhead still wasn’t quite sure how she had gotten him as a partner, but like hell would she ever complain about it.
Suddenly, he froze, face darkening significantly and burrow was opened, him jumping into it quickly. Copperhead tilted her head, rather confused when the telltale sound of burrow behind her. Rockin' was practically snarling, lashing out with his umbrella pointed into a sword at a scarlet version of Weredad who growled back at him, the fur on his chest vibrating. However, when she tried to help him, the hook of the umbrella pulled her back by her waist.
She ended up bumping into his chest, his arm protectively cradling her. Copperhead very quickly found her face heating up at his actions, but was also slightly miffed since she was capable of fighting herself. Eventually, he had beaten off Weredad. Slowly, his stance eased up a little, but his hand was still gripping hers tightly. Copperhead sat them both down for the moment, as it seemed the akumas had momentarily retreated. “I can handle myself you know. Protecting me is appreciated but I could’ve beaten him off after I realized what was going on.”
Rockin' Rabbit only gave her a small smile, but he had the decency to look a bit sheepish. “I know, but it makes me feel better knowing you’re safe and out of harms way. As well as..the best way I could put it. Grabbing you like that had been instinct. Primal rage almost. Everything was just blaring in my head to keep you safe at all costs.” He admitted, shrugging his shoulders. Copperhead stared at him, a bit stunned by his words. Once again, overwhelming heat was quickly rising to her face and she looked down mostly to avoid her partner from noticing just how touched she was by what he had said. “I- Oh..thank you then.” She whispered. Thoughts were racing through her head, as the rabbit hero slid closer to her and eventually to her side.
Copperhead gave him a small confused glance, shoving down her own blush as best as she could but she couldn’t help the small amount that remained dusted on her cheeks. But her efforts were useless as he raised a hand to her cheek, gently rubbing his thumb across the skin and occasionally coming in contact with the scaly texture of her mask. Her body basically became jello within seconds from a single touch, her head leaning into the contact without thought. Her eyes were shut, bathing in the warmth of both the sun and of his hand caressing her face. Blearily, she momentarily wondered if he was messing with her on purpose. But when she cracked an eye open, he found him staring with absolute adoration in his teal eyes. He twirled a small strand of her blue hair, slightly darker than hers in his grasp before tucking it behind her ear.
She currently had a feeling that Emydinae (Turtle! Alya for everyone else) was somewhere nearby, possible snapping photos of the moment but that had only crossed her thoughts for a moment. Her hand had absentmindedly reached upward, now softly rubbing at the fur on the backside of Rockin' Rabbits plush ears. They felt similar to velvet, satisfying under her fingers. But they seemed to have an almost immediate reaction on the hero across from her, whose foot was now thumping lightly on the ground with pleasure. His hand had lowered now, resting on her knee as she shifted forward, gently pressing her forehead against his.
Rockin' Rabbit paused momentarily, his eyes only inches away from her own. His eyes had always made her feel calmer. Unlike her own, they were softer, similar to tropical waters she had seen in photos of books her father had. While her eyes were more icy, startling to look at and could give quite a nasty glare if she so wished. But he gently nudged back against her, interlocking their hands with a light squeeze. But they were ubruptly shot out of their small world when a loud roar came from Horrificator down by the Eiffel Tower.
Copperhead frowned, leaning away. “Jackass had to ruin it..” She huffed. “You enjoyed it then, huh?” The heroine blinked, turning towards him. “Of course I did. You..you should know we aren’t..just friends. Friends don’t do what we do.” Rockin' stood up, staring down at her for a moment, his umbrella pushing into the ground. Copperhead was momentarily confused, until he lifted his umbrella, positioning it under her chin and tilting it up so she was looking at him. “I suppose so, huh? Guess maybe I should go through with my original plan next time, petite serpent.” Copperhead stared at him, too shocked to really react to anything else. The hero laughed however at her dumbstruck look, offered her a wink before leaving, rushing off towards the rest of the team. Copperhead was left open mouthed with disbelief, still reeling from her partners words and actions before she shook herself. She couldn’t afford to get distracted. Not right now anyway, with akumas rampaging through the street. But she knew she’d be talking with him later. Or..maybe a little more than just talking.
