@a-blessing-of-ravens and I went to a talk on Colourism today which was part of an art installation photographed by someone I used to work with.

I saw it advertised as a 2 hour talk and it ended up being a 30 minute talk, 15 minute Q&A and 75 minute group discussion about racism, colourism, eurocentric beauty standards, how that leads to ideas about professionalism and all the non white people in the room saying to white people "having different nationality dolls in preschool doesn't cure racism".

It was an amazing two hours. Honest safe space for non white people and I'm so happy I got the opportunity to listen.

I really am interested in having conversations with people of colour about race, but there comes a point when I just don't think I can do it. Like trying to silence conversations about whiteness in place of saying "we are all one race" just doesn't make any sense to me. I find it so much harder to not let stuff that PoC say get to me too.
