I have! Well, sort of. My main country's calendar is the same length year as ours in terms of days, but divided into 9 months and each week is 6 days. So while I sorta picked astrological signs for the characters when I first started making them (I do this and tarot cards- helps give a feel for a new character), the Earth dates I give them aren't their actual birthdays.Adair was born on Mortise 30th (equivalent of October 1st), Blythe was born on Scriven 14th (August 5th), and Firedrake was born on Andante 13th (June 20th). The twins have no idea what their exact birthdate is, but they do know the year. Their culture has no concept of families and birthdays, so they just picked a day for their birthday when they came to Concordia: Stele 32nd (February 2nd).17: Does your WIP have any themes or motifs?
I'm never really sure how to answer this. I think "the power of friendship" is a big one since the dorks working together is something that progresses throughout the trilogy. "Found family" maybe, too, since none of the five really felt like they had a home until they find this in each other. Home is family, not a place. Even if sometimes your family really gets on your nerves.For motifs... that's more like imagery, right? In that case it's probably color. Color represents magic (each type has its own color) and each character has colors that they're particularly drawn to. I also use color to designate which troupe a performer is a part of, uniforms of the different types of Protectorates, Artisans dress in colors that compliment their magical glow... I’m writing a culture heavy on arts and pretty things, so color comes up a lot.
