“You were supposed to be watching him..!” He had rarely ever heard his companion scold him like that, but then again... when he heard it the first time he made certain to never hear it ever, but that tone let him know that he had failed that goal.
“I was!” His voice rises in defense, pointing at the spot with open hands where the boy was no longer. “But I heard a noise and went to check things out in case we were in any trouble! When I came back, he was gone!” This information only seemed to make Fran sigh and pinch the bridge of her nose.
“We must find him, he has what we want..!”
“Then we split up. I’ll go down the hill, you go the other way. Meet back up here, got it?” With a acknowledging nod from both parties, they split up and go their separate ways, the sky pirate running down the hill and calling out the boy’s name to try and locate him. This area was big and it was very likely that a small cretin like this brat gave them the slip... gave Balthier the slip! He was such a fool, he should have known better than to turn his back like that but he did and now he’s paying for it!
Leaping across a small stream and running into the forest just beyond it, Balthier comes into a clearing lined with flowers and a small pond just on the edge of it. Nothing. He growls in frustration, running a hand through his hair and resting his hands on his hips. How could one child cause so much trouble?
“Just our luck... we had someone with something valuable slip through our fingers and now we’re right back off where he started...”
