Radical Theory and Practice - Self-Directed Practice Final: Mother Nature’s Whisper
Materials: Aluminum wire, plants, and wood
Dimensions: 8 x 5 x 14
Mother Nature’s Whisper" is a one-line sculpture I created that presents the deep connection between nature, humanity, and motherhood. I sculpted the wire into the abstract face of a woman with a neutral expression, demonstrating the quiet strength of a mother. The plants growing around her represent the nurturing embrace of Mother Nature, who, like a mother, provides life, protection, and guidance.
I wrapped plants around the wire to make it seem like vines are growing around her and as if she is cradling them, showing resilience and the way both nature and motherhood continue through challenges. Their ability to grow in any condition reflects the lasting and adaptable nature of a mother’s love. I also added red flowers by the side to bring warmth and vibrancy, symbolizing life, passion, and creation. This sculpture connects to my other work, Pedestal of Growth, which represents five stages of growth, further deepening the role of a mother, whether human or natural, in fostering and encouraging life. By blending industrial materials with organic elements, the piece reminds us that no matter how much humans build and shape the world, they remain deeply connected to nature, always nurtured by its quiet, dedicated existence.
