» reading: "pilgrim" by mitchell lüthi / "the doloriad" by missouri williams! rlly enjoying the prose in pilgrim and the focus on flawed characters- definitely appeals to my interest in medieval / historical horror. the first 6 chapters of initial worldbuilding / establishing plot were a slow start but they're very worth it so far :] the doloriad is a gross, gothic post-apocalypse saga that i'm also really loving so far. raises a lot of really interesting questions about humanity, etc. if you like getting philosophical abt your books. if disgusting (/pos) literature isn't ur jam you won't enjoy it, but if u aren't squeamish i'd highly recommend both (here is usually a v dependable website for media CWs) <33

hey just want to say I read your autobio post and I'm really glad you got to take the weight off your chest I hope writing it all in one place makes you feel better :D and I've only now kind of realised (or more like looked at more directly for once?) that more of my gender dysphoria is more society looking At me than me looking at myself so thanks for that revelation 🤣

And yeah I guess it was kind of liberating. Honestly the main reason I wrote all that out was for the bit at the end. I have seen a lot of discourse about whether transmasc and transfem experiences are comparable and I definitely think they are different in a lot of ways, and a transfem reading that might not relate to many of the things I said. Hell, my experiences aren't even universal for transmascs.
My goal was... if there's a hypothetical transfem reader for this who has been dipping into some radfem ideology about gender essentialism and transmedicalism and men and mascs lately, and manages to make it through this entire story without stopping to clown on me in my inbox because I admitted to having a bit of a misogynist dudebro phase, and instead finds experiences in here that are relatable because they're kind of fundamentally trans experiences... I hope that helps something to click.
Or perhaps someone will see the parallels between my experiences back then and what some young trans folks are going through now, and learn from my mistakes.
Or at the very least, maybe the "your dysphoria and performance isn't what make you trans" part will help to feel less like one's gender has to be constantly defended, isolated, and reinforced like a fortress beset by enemies, for it to be real and unassailable.
And in that sense, my larger goal being to try to show someone the thought process that got me to the comfort level that I'm at with my body and gender, I'm genuinely delighted if my words helped you realize something about yourself that will, I hope, lead to greater peace and comfort for you as well.
