My name is Rula. I’m from Gaza, and I’m writing this with a heart full of pain and desperation.

No one is responding to my messages. I am hungry. I am freezing.

Our tent is torn apart, and we have no money to survive.

No food. No water. No clothing. No shelter. No safety. No rest.

I’ve lost every basic part of life — along with my hope.

I have a broken arm that hasn’t been treated in over six months.

My father is suffering from heart disease.

My brother is battling malnutrition and hepatitis.

And my mother is standing with me, fighting for our lives.

We are drowning in pain and no one hears our cries.

they are living in such severe flooding right now everyone. It is one thing after another there is no rest for them there is no peace or calm. It’s getting cold, tents are falling apart, theres no food, and the bmbing is escalating yet again. Don’t be fooled by a ‘ceasefire’ this poorly veiled regurgitated lie. They are suffering worse than ever. The brilliant Rula Abdel Qader was studying to become an English teacher when Israel escalated their Nakba, she’s a profound poet a very talented young woman. I’m honored I get the chance to speak with her and hear her art, she is so strong. But she is tired still and her arm is badly broken from bombardment and needed surgery to heal straight but we are now too late since we couldn’t raise enough funds for her to have the operation back in August. HOWEVER that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still need care. As of right now her arm is barely functional. SHE NEEDS MEDICINE. For her and her brother who is suffering severely with malnutrition and Hep C (from the contaminated water (the widespread public health crisis rn in Gaza is immense)) Just basic ibuprofen right now is a ridiculous amount of money please if you donate now and enter the Raffle4Rula I’ll send you a free patch or print of your choosing! i felt i should make my “politics” on something very clear if they werent already… FREE MY PEOPLE HANDS OFF THE MIDDLE EAST FREE SUDAN FREE CONGO FREE TIGRE FREE MYANMAR FREE ARMENIA FREE HAITI FREE TURTLE ISLAND. We are not free till we are ALL free!

I come from a lineage of diaspora-ed genocide-ed people so on this i will take NO BULLSHIT. I am Arab (Lebanese and Syrian) Armenian and Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) with a dusting of Irish and Italian. The pain of my family rages red in me through my name through my art and through my song. We will live on. I’m a proud queer brown disabled transman and a proud queer brown disabled transman I will stay. Proud of my people’s resilience and our steel bound community and proud of the people who walked this earth before me in these shoes to make my fight possible.

Which brings me to today, my friends and family in the ME still living the same hell I’ve watched familiar faces suffer over and over again ad nauseam since birth. They need you please don’t turn a blind eye as young girls and their mothers turn to SW for a sip of dirty water under constant bombardment and a man made famine festered with infectious disease, no medicine or medical equipment not even PAPER TOWELS OR WATER, no humanity for some of the most generous genuine people one could know.

I am running an art raffle for my friend’s family her name is Rula Abdel Qader and she is such a brilliant young woman. She was studying to be an english teacher when the west finally opened its eyes and stared down the ME on 10/7 and her life was thrown up into the air in shards. Her campaign is HERE every donation no matter how small will enter you in the raffle to win an 18 x 24” poster commission mailed to you and hand drawn by yours truly in any style or level of rendering of anything you’d like!
