Cinder Rankings - Rags (2012)
Originality- 3/5 modern day genderbent Cinderella set in New York City. Just like Sneakerella, although this one is all about the music industry. Charlie, our protag, is an aspiring singer, and his love interest Katee is a popstar. They also do that plot of "musician wants to do their own songs but is forced to sing/play other stuff", which I've seen a million times before. This is definitely the only Cinderella story I've seen where the prince asks Cinderella to help him find her, though.
Enjoyability- 3/5 There's nothing wrong with this movie, but it didn't really capture me like some of the others on this list. It's not amazing, but it's not bad enough to make fun of. It's just a matter of personal taste, I guess. Or the fact that my meds were wearing off. It's very weird seeing Drake Bell play the Fairy Godmother, though.
Soundtrack- 3/5 it's good, but none of the songs really stuck out to me
Romance- 4/5 Charlie and Katee are cute. They don't start out as love interests, she actually has a boyfriend when they meet, but I'm a sucker for friends to lovers. I also love the very specific trope of "rescuing you from your shitty partner". There's also a weird little subplot about Katee's dad's assistant being in love with him, but they don't matter and side romances don't factor into my rankings.
Morals- 3/5 "follow your dreams and be yourself" is a very generic message, but this is a Nickelodeon original movie, so I didn't expect much
Total- 16/25
