I can't stop thinking about this show, I'm now playing new vegas to sustain me, I swear I'll finally finish it this time. anyways MAJOR SHOW SPOILERS but young Lucy and Maximus had to have both been in Shady Sands around the same time right? It's possible they crossed paths. I had this idea on my break and thought it was cute, so I wrote it. Also I just realized Maximus is his Brotherhood name, which is why he goes unnamed in this drabble.

Lucy shuffles through the bright green stalks of corn, and in the early dawn the husks and silky strands of each ear cling to her as she sneaks through the field. Dewdrops dampen her freshly sun kissed skin, not that she minds. Today, she has an important mission. She's going to explore her new home.
Sticking her head out from the many rows of corn to make sure no one is watching, she hops over the garden wall, and skips with barely contained glee to her first destination. A large rock jutting out over the slope into the city.
It begs to be climbed.
Planting her rump down at its tiptop, she sets her lunchbox by her side and marvels at the world that seems to stretch on without end. Craning her neck as far as it will go, she stares up at the endless blue above her. Nothing at all like the place she and Norm and mom and dad all lived in together. Always with a roof firmly overhead. Sometimes staring up like this, it got to be too much. If she wasn’t careful, she thinks the ground might lose its hold on her, and she’d trip up into the sky forever. Mom’s new friend laughed when she confessed her fears. Told her it was good she got her mom’s imagination.
She loses her balance, tumbling backwards before catching herself, only to be greeted by the curious brown eyes of a young boy. A friend, maybe.
“You’re new.”
“Uh-huh.” She wants to know what’s in the bag he’s holding, but it wouldn’t be polite to ask without introductions.
“What’s your name?” He plunks down next to her.
Lucy opens her mouth, but remembers her mom’s warning. They were here as a surprise. They had to keep their names secret for now. She shrugs. “I’m…the girl.” Couldn’t think of a name she liked fast enough. It's what mom's friend called her. Her and Norm. The girl and boy.
“That’s not a name.” He wrinkles his nose, trying to imagine calling a baby such a thing.
“It is where I’m from.” Lucy grins. He couldn’t disagree with that, she knew every kid her age from where she was from, and he was not one of them.
He giggles, and she giggles with him.
“What’s your name?”
He looks over with a bit of mischief. “The boy.”
Lucy pouts. “You're just copying.”
She turns away in a huff, only to watch from the corner of her eye as he pulls a handheld radio from his bag. Also in the bag are metal bits and bobs, pliers, and a set of screwdrivers. But the boy stops as she sets her lunch box on her lap. Inside are a handful of Fancy Lad Snack Cakes she snuck from mom’s stash.
“Whatcha got there?” She can't hold back her curiosity any longer.
“Radio. Ma hates Mr. New Vegas, but he’s funny. I’m gonna fix this up so I can listen.”
“Can I listen too?”
“Sure,” he licks his lips, and stares at her lunchbox. “But I'll probably go faster with something to eat."
Lucy stops unwrapping one of the crumbly cakes, pauses, and then hands it to him with a sweet smile. “Okey dokey.”
