Those Who Have Been Lost Should Be Found

A few weeks ago we had a new kind of event with the Royal Guardian family... Hide and Seek!

This was already bound to be interesting. Rules were set... No clothes changing after starting, no glitching, no using special Ninja techniques to hide... And the area was limited to the current 'map', meaning if there was a black screen location change, that was out of the play area. So the group (sadly, Arya wasn't feeling well and didn't participate), gathered in our first location... Gridania.

One person opted to be the Seeker, and the other three would find some place and hide there until found, or until the 20 minute time period elapsed. Anyone found would join in the hunt as a Seeker, giving the group a greater chance of finding the Hidden. After each 5 minutes had passed, each of the ones still Hidden would give a 'hint' to help the Seekers locate them in the fairly large half of the city.

Vincent was first to seek. We started around the main Aetheryte and had all of "New Gridania" to hide. Aurya opted to hide surprisingly close.

Maybe it doesn't look like much from above... But perhaps you'd be surprised... Three clues were given... "Be cautious of water, blub blub.", "I am under deck.", and "There is something big and bright blue revolving above me." The time ran out, and Aurya was never found. (Nor was Satien.)

Perhaps for good reason. From a standing angle, it's nearly impossible. Aurya lost count of how many times Vincent and Raiden ran right by her, and several times nearly stepping on her, and yet of they only moved more slowly and looked down, she'd have been found. This is right under the wooden deck of the Aetheryte Plaza they started in.

After reconvening and checking out the bush Satien hid well in by the gate to the Central Shroud, we moved a little further in to Old Gridania, meeting in Mih Khetto's Amphithere for the second round. Surely Aurya wouldn't hide in water again! Surely...?

Well this is a nice tranquil place... Raiden is the Seeker on the hunt this time. Three hints were given again. "Oops, I did it again. Blub blub.", "I am in a peaceful alcove with a few lights, benches, and not many people." and "Fireflies dance to the tune of rushing water."

You know, for a cat, Aurya seems to be spending way too much time in water... Despite Raiden and Vincent's best efforts, Aurya and Satien were once again never found. This called for a change of scenery...

Off to the sunny seas of La Noscea to hunt across the lower decks of Limsa Lominsa! Satien was the designated Seeker this time, so the Hiders need to work a little harder to keep away from his sharp eye... And the bright sun and white stone of the city-state leave few places to hide.

So time to stow away in the darkest corner she could find. Finding even a halfway decent place was rough... And the place Aurya settled still had her nervous she would be found. She could only hope to rely on the flow of the room to divert Satien's attention so he wouldn't check the less considered nooks. Vincent and Raiden were found rather quickly, meaning there were three people hunting now this poor cat.

Four hints were given since the time was extended due to the size of Limsa... "In the Far Reaches.", "No sunlight reaches here.", "Below decks. Two of them.", and "It's Probably Pirates". The cabin where she was in was swarmed by all three 9f them at various points. Even running through the very open door she hid behind.

With breath held, not daring to make a sound... Time finally ran out, leaving Aurya yet another victory and the pride of outwitting Satien.

The scenery changed again, this time to the sandy made of Ul'Dah. Now Aurya was the Seeker. She passed get time waiting for everyone to hide the best way she knew how...

Watching newcomers to her old profession. Anyway, with everyone hidden, Aurya went on the prowl. Finding Vincent first, crouching in a corner by some barrels near the Miner's Guild. He joined the search and found Raiden in one of the back alleys behind the Sapphire Avenue Exchange. Now all three hunted for the remaining Satien... Time ran low, all hints were given... And Aurya thought to look near somewhere very familiar to her, the Gladiator's Guild. With seconds remaining, she found a familiar tail poking out from behind a sitting Roegadyn, and sure enough, Satien was practically hiding inside the man.

With that, the event ended and beans celebrated! It turned out to be so much fun, And Aurya can't wait for the next time to put her cat stealth skills to good use!
