Talking and Tacos || Syn & Raja
The van across from the Mexican food truck was far too cramped for Raja’s liking, enough so that her mood had continued to sour in the few hours she had been stuck there. She sat between two male officers, thee three of them watching the monitors that sat before them, waiting for their target to visit El Maguay. Raja had provided the tip to the force, another piece of intel received from Ragnarok, though she always made sure to claim her information source as a confidential informant.
The trio was about to pull straws for who’s turn it was to get coffee refills when Raja waved her hand through a cloud of cigarette smoke and pointed to one of the monitors. . “There!” Their target, cartel lieutenant Manuel Rosa strolled up to the truck, though stopped to talk with one of the other customers. She reached for the radio, calling in that they had spotted their quarry while the men on either side of her began to suit up. She then signaled the blacked out patrol car they had waiting in the alley to be ready. The group watched silently as the capo was spurned by the woman he was talking to, gesturing angrily before continuing on his way, not bothering with the truck. Raja looked to either side, nodding to the other men before she reached out and opened the door.
The three emerged and stepped out onto the street, drawing guns from holsters but keeping them pointed toward the ground. “Manuel Rosa!” Raja called out, opening her badge and holding it above her head. “I’d like a word, please.” But the cartel member didn’t give her that chance, instead turning and fleeing down the street, Raja reached to her shoulder radio and barked out an order. The moment she did so, the cops in the alley rolled forward, stopping once they had blocked off the sidewalk and starting up their flashing lights as they stepped out of the car, guns drawn and pointed towards Rosa. The detectives on either side of Raja rushed forward, and Manuel was soon being handcuffed and read his rights before being stuffed in the car, it turning out of the alley and making it’s way down toward the station.
Raja stood and chatted with the two detectives for a few moments before they made their way back to the van. Raja, however, paused before entering and looked back to the food truck. “You know, he can stew for a bit before we talk to him. Let me know if you calls for a lawyer, yeah?” The other cops nodded and the van was soon pulling away as Raja stepped to truck and looked over the menu. She soon had something picked out and was waiting on it as she turned around, casually scanning the other customers. The detective chuckled when she caught sight of the woman the capo had been flirting with.
“Sorry for the unexpected drama,” she said, but couldn’t help the smile on her lips, the high from the arrest still churning through her.

It was the sudden sound of a van’s sliding door opening that diverts Syn’s attention, turning her head and watching three people step out with a gun in each of their hands. It made her heart skip a beat until a name was hollered. Not hers. Her shoulder relax somewhat before she watches the events unfold. And she couldn’t help but smile once her admirer was surrounded by police officers, handcuffed and manhandled into the back of a car.
Smirk still on her face, she turns back to her interrupted meal, lifting it to her mouth and taking a bite before she glances back to the scene. One of the officers was heading her way. Oh no. Her eyes remained glued to the woman until she walks straight past her and toward the truck to order herself something to eat. Sighing heavily, the brunette took a few breaths before forcing herself to focus on the food in front of her.
She was halfway through a bite before the woman’s voice causes her to jump, tearing away from her food and lifting a hand to cover her mouth and any other possible juices that might have leaked from between her lips. “Mmph.” She chews quickly, swallowing hard. “Mm-ugh. Yeah.” Syn laughs as she clears her throat, reaching for a napkin to clean her mouth before turning at the waist to face the officer. “No need to apologize. Hope whatever he did was worth it.”
