Barakamon - Rajikamon Part-translation #02 (Guest: Naru/Hina)

So here comes Part 02 of Barakamon's Radio - Rajikamon #04 Part which has Suzuko-chan/Naru & Rina-chan/Hina came as guest. You can listen to it HERE . Part 02 starts around minute 29:30 (Part1: HERE)

I decided to translate this for fun. Forgive me should there be any mistakes, feel free to correct me since English/Nihongo is not my first language. At times I merged the conversation a little bit because I can no longer differentiate who's talking because they tend to overlap each other xD;;

Anyway, ENJOY! I hope it'll brighten your day because onoD & the kids giggling together on radio is lovely to the heart and ears ^^

O/N/H: "Nandai Yokaken, Okuttekoi (Anything is fine, send it to us)" (chii: good thing I've been reading the manga I can understand a wee bit of the dialect XD) O: Yosh! It is a corner where we answer questions from the fans. And today I'll have Suzuko-chan/Naru & Rina-chan/Hina to help me. N/H: Ou yeah! O: Hina too? Oh yeah! XD O: Okay then Sensei will choose and read one letter then. Kankorobochi-chan *laugh* (Because radio names are always weird and funny. Kankorobocchi = To completely dry up. Dunno IDK XD;) O: I am living in Nagasaki prefecture but I've never been to Goto Island. But this October I've decided to go travel to Goto Island with my friend. I am looking forward to it. What will you do if you go to Goto? For me, I am planning to go fishing and do BBQ.

I see, that's really nice plan. Have you been to Goto? N/H: No~ N: But I want to go there during summer vacation H: Hina too! N: And I want to pick bugs. O: And then you can make a dirty monster ball (It refers to the 'ball full of stink bugs' in episode 06) N: Kamemushi (stink bug) O: DONNN! N: Naru will say 'Sensei this is an omiyage (present) for you' O/H: Waaa O: So you can do that too if you go to Goto. How about Hina? H: Hina wants to build a house by myself (Hehe, omg Hina. Naru and Hina are totally Naru and Hina, they are so different yet so adorable bestfriend to each other XD) O: A House?! N: That's greaaat! H: Un! *laugh* O: But first you need a land. Ahh, sensei needs to work hard too, um, should I go home? PL: Buy it for her O: Uwaaa N: (Naru is talking about Hina cutting a tree by herself...) O: I see, wanting to build a house, that's a splendid ambition. H: Hina loves making things. O/N: Aaa I see. H: ??

O: Ah and you made that didn't you, Karuta! (japanese traditional poem card game. It consisted of all japanese alphabet, and you have to find he match). N: Ou! PL: Um? O: She made Barakamon Karuta made for me N: Yeah you made it right? PL: Eh? H: Un! O: Yeah, and I brought it with me because I heard Hina is coming today. This. PL: Ah she really made it. Let open it. O: I'll open it, is that okay? H: Yes N: I've thought it is Karuta since the beginning. O: She properly made from あ to ん H: A for arigatou (Hina made a complete set of Karuta from first to last nihongo alphabet. In which she replaced the poem with her own lines like あ for Arigatou no kimochi. AWW THAT'S SO SWEET ; v ;) N: Eh? What? Until which character? ん? O: Until 'ん' N: Awesome! That's really awesome! O: And you see because this is a radio, we can't show the picture.. Lets start from

'あ' "Arigatou no kimochi wa ippai desu" (I feel so thankful). 'う' "Ureshii na yasashii sensei desu" (I am happy because sensei is kind).

PL: That's awesome, everything is made related to Barakamon O: Yes.

'え' "Egao de tanoshii sensei desu" (A fun sensei who is always smiling). 'き' "Kitanai monster ball' (Dirty Monster Ball)

PL: It is soo good! We should sell this! H: No, don't sell it! (I think she is referring to the Karuta that she gave to Sensei ^^) O: Though for 'た' (ta) It became 'だ’ (da).

'だ' "Danojii yo (tanoshii yo, mimicking a crying Hina I think)" (It is Fun)

N: Danojiii yooo! O: Hina, try to say this line H: Tanoshii yooo *cry* *laugh* O/PL: Waaaa the real one came out! XD O: This is really good, you see this one, this one, the drawings on the card. Barakamon.. And you see, it gets harder to make sentences when it comes to the later alphabets like 'Ra, Ri, Ru', right? But the last 'ん' which should be the hardest, because I thought there's no word that starts from that character.. and she wrote N: Nnn~ Mandom! XDDDD (//LOLOLOL omg naru *sqoosh*) *laugh* O/PL: You really did well with this Karuta. O: Look at this N: It looks similar! So similar! (I'm guessing it is Hina's drawing that resembles or is similar to the real thing XD) O/PL: It is realllllyyy good right? O: That's why I thought, this is so good it can be a Mechandise! PL: Yes I think so too. N: Yeah it'd be awesome if we produce can sell this. And we can say 'Barakamon Karuta' (chii: Yes I'd buy really, it sounds so cute. Atleast take picture pleaseee dear Rajikamon casts/staffs D: D:) H: I drew that and Okaasan said it looks like Nasu (eggplant) O: The drawing looks like an eggplant..(??). You're good you know. But you really like making things. (I'm not sure because Suzuko-chan is talking at the same time XD;) PL: That's really nice. Rina-chan gave you this Ono-san? O: Yes she made for me. PL: Waaa, I'm jealous now. You're really loved. O: Yeah, I was really touched. N: Genius!

PL: So then we have answered the question then, to the listener who sent the question O: Make stuffs, catch bugs, make stuffs. As a result, I'll make Monster Ball. Ah! I'll make Konomon! N/H: Ohh ohhh! N: Yeah we got really addicted to Konomon right O: Yes, I really love Konomon! And then I'll make Handa Corn Special (manga Vol 07, Chap 53 - in which Naru got addicted to the corn in cans brought back by Sensei). N: 2nd serving please! because it is really delicious. O: Unexpectedly delicious right. (It is not like they really eat it. They are just talking about the scene in the manga xD That's why I love these casts, they are no different from the anime outside afureko - so adorableee :D)

O: These two have read the manga so much to the point that they remember the scenes. Well, there'll be many other fun scenes coming soon! O: Anyways, lets read one more letter. Okay, this one radio name Suzu-chan from Aichi-ken. Mm.. Suzu-chan is a normal name. PL: What? Do you mean that all radio names has to be stupid/weird? (I think yes, usually that's what people do, to make it a memorable and interesting XD) H: Cute ^^ O: No, Suzu-chan it is okay. Okay lets read. "I've been learning calligraphy for 13 years and just like Sensei no matter how much obstacles I've encountered I keep moving forward" Oh you're great. "Ono-san, how do you get over it when you hit a wall (obstacle)? For me, if I feel like crying I'd cry and then feel refreshed after that". O: So you solved it already dont you.. by crying. Mm, I can understand this. Then, I think it'd be interesting to ask these two. What do you think will you do if you hit a wall? N: Naru? If its me.. O: Would you even hit a wall? (I think because she is so genki, no worries XD) N: If it is Naru, I will attack the wall many times until it breaks. (chii: lol suzuko-chan that is too reality, a real wall? XD) O: Uwaaa, there it comes, instead of getting over it, you're breaking the wall. N: Break it!! Many Many Many Many Many times repetitively DON DON DON DON! the wall until it breaks! And when it breaks YEAYYY! O: It means Naru is invincible. There's no wall she can't break. Hit the wall many times till it breaks. N: /sfx: punching/ O: So you're making elbow strike N: And also body attack! O: This totally Naru, no doubt you're Naru.

O: Then how about Hina? H: If it is me, mm, I'll stand and bed.. N: You'll jump? H: ..and with a loud voice, it doesnt have any meaning but like Tama's seiyuu, I'll shout 'SEISHUN NO BAKAYAROU' (Stupid Youth). N: Ahh that's right, there was that scene (Tama and BL dilemma XD) *laugh* O/PL: Ohh so you do that. O: I wonder why on the bed though.. it is the most N: Warm H: Calm O: Ah, I see N: Very warm right? H: Yes, and seem like I can let out a loud voice *laugh* O: Oh that's good, then Sensei make it into a practice whenever Sensei hits a wall. Since sensei is the type prone to hit a wall. I'l GAN GAN GAN and scream. O: Anyway, Sensei's way of getting over an obstacle, usually Sensei goes to sleep. Whenever I feel like I hit a wall, I'll go to sleep right away and when I wake up, I'll forget everything about it. N: Like my friend O: Eh? So you have that kind of friend? N: Yeah when he/she made a mistake during a ??? he/she immediate cried and went to sleep immediately. O: After that? N: When the friend woke up, he/she was like 'Huh?'. And I said 'Wake uppp!!'. And he/she said 'Did something happened?' O: So the friends totally forgets everything that happened before that. I see so maybe that friend is similar to sensei. Sensei too, will forget everything. As a conclusion that means, bed is important. N: Naru too, sometimes when Naru is soo tired I'd go to my brother's place [...] and sleep there, the next thing I know, it is already 8pm and when I tried to remember I'll be like 'Eh? Did something happened?' *laughs* O: That's nice. So there's no such thing as 'wall' for us then. N: Yes. *laugh* O: And so we've talked so much on this corner and we have come to the end. Eh? So Hina and Naru is going to part from each other now. N/H: *gasp* /Naru Hina noises/ O: That reaction XD You see I noticed this since earlier, whatever I do, these two will definitely try to sync with me. Like now even my movements and gestures will do it too. When I whisper, Naru will whisper too. O: And so the Guest corner for today will end here. So how was it?! Was it Fun?! H/N: FUNNN! O: Good, see when I let out a loud voice, they do it too. And Sensei had fun too. It is your first time on radio right? H: Un! O: But you know, you actually spoke more than Sensei. So will you come again to this radio? H/N: Yes, we want to come again. Na! Ne?! O: (onoD is narrating what is happening) They pat each other's shoulder, showing their friendship again, Naru & Hina. So, please come again and when you come next time, please bring some snacks for Sensei. N/H: Okay. *laugh* O: So that was Hara Suzuko-chan & Endou Rina-chan. N/H: Thank you so much.

O: Alright, here comes the guest. Lets allow her to make an appearance now. Welcome, guest-san N: Yeayyy! Its me Naru. O & PL: *laughs* O: You really have gotten used to it, aren't you? (** Because Suzuko-chan came as guest on the previous Rajikamon too) N: Un! O: Un, 'Yeayyy! Naru desu' like 'Uisssu' (peace? uissu? idek.. XD) N: Uisssu O: You really entered with a high spirit and even introduce yoruself. That's good, that's good. PL: It should be "Naru's voice actor, Hara Suzuko". O: Oh I see, so you didn't say your name. O: So Naru its the continuation from last week, how was it, have you gotten used to the radio? N: Un, I've gotten used to it. O: So today to, please continue to talk happily okay. S: Un! O: Okay, yoroshiku. N: Yoroshikuu~ (ww this kid XD) O: And one more thing, Naru you tend to 'talk' with you face. O & PL: laugh O: Your face expressions are interesting. Its a pity we can't show it. But you see, Sensei tend to do so too. O & N: *laugh* O: Anyway, do you know that today there's another guest? N: Yes just now you just talked to the guest and just now you even hugged her. O: Alright, lets welcome the other guest, douzo! H: Hina's voice actor Endou Rina. All: YEAY O: Welcome to Barakamon Radio - Rajikamon O/N/H: It has been a while/Hisashiburi O: But its not that long, it was just about a week. O: And so, Endou Rina-chan has appeared. PL: Are you nervous? H: I am, a little. O: A little nervous? How about radio? H: It is my first time on radio. O: Here it comes, first time. As expected, you get nervous during the first time. During Sensei's first time on radio, I really have no idea on what I was talking during that time. Eventhough I was the one who said it myself. H: *giggles* O: I see. Today, we'll talk a lot about Barakamon's afureko, Naru too okay? So do talk a lot on that okay? O: Hm, during the afureko, our seats are next to each other right? H: Yes it is *giggles* O: That.. has it always been like that since the beginning? N: At first it wasn't like that. Sensei sat first and then [...] somewhere in the middle, it became like that (** I am guessing that onoD is seated in between of those two, Suzuko-chan is talking while giggling I can't quite catch it ; v ;) H: Recently it became like that. O: I see. You girls' body temperature are hot you know. O: And were there anything that you think 'Ah this is hard' during the afureko? H: Nnn, the crying scene.. when Hina cried I have to use a louder voice and that's a little hard. O: I see that's true, it is rare for one to actually cry with a loud voice. PL: And for most of the times Hina is always crying, isn't she *laugh* O: Is it your first time working on anime afureko? H: It is not my first time, I think its about my 2nd time O: If you compare afureko to the time when you're on TV as a child actor, what do you think? H: Mm, I think afureko is much more fun to do. O: Ooo, reaaaally?! Seiyuu [...??] (** the sound effect is troublesome XD I can't catch eeet. But anyway OnoD is happy since the kids seems like she can be a good seiyuu candidate) O: Crying scene is really hard even for Sensei, and I've been doing this work for 15 years. Crying and laughing scene is really hard because you must let out the emotion. You're good Hina. And Naru why are you patting Hina like 'You did a good job too'. *giggles* O: Naru is good too you see, Naru is good at controlling your voice - the (physical or emotional) sense of distance and that's hard for me even though I've been doing it for 15 years. N: Naru ne, I reeaaally love to let out my voice aloud. O: Ah, so you like it. He~ O/N: Heeee~ O: But that's true, since just now you really seem like you were really itching to say something. O: Naru and Hina are really goods friends to each other. N/H: Un! O: Are you always like that? N: Nnn, because we already met at the audition. O: Oh, so you've met since audition? N: And we was like 'Ah, long time no see'. O: If you met at the audition, does that means you two were auditioning for the same position? N/H: Un O: Oh that's cool, then you two are rivals.. Rival? That doesn't seem like it. *laugh* N: We're friends. O: Waa, that's nice, friends that are working with in the same field You see, Sensei couldn't make friends. *laugh* Sensei ne, went to the same university with Pierre-san but I have no idea about it. N: You didn't know? O: Nope. N: You are fre, you are friends yet you didn't know? O: We.. weren't friends back then. PL: We were in the same year, but we didn't know each other. O: Well Sensei is hitomishiri (shy with strangers) after all. *laugh* O: So yes I wanted to ask about this um, Hina are you the type that shies away from stranger or the opposite? H: Well it is not really like that at home, but Hina has a little sister, and sometimes when Hina fights with her, Hina will immediately cry. *laugh* O: With your little sister.. Wait wait wait, when you fight with your little sister, you're the one who end up crying? H: [cant hear XD;;] N: That's really Hina. PL: Hina looks really kind after all. O: She'll cry even when you try to console her. N: That's really Hina. O: It is really Hina. O: No doubt that's how it really is. Just like how Naru said "Naru *is* Naru" is ofcourse true, Hina too, "Hina *IS* Hina." (** It gets confusing because they are using their character names even outside afureko. Suzuko-chan once said "I am just like Naru the way Naru is" and she also said "Naru wa Naru ni naru". Punny here, 'naru' means 'to become' = "Naru (I am) going to be Naru". So it means, just like how Suzuko-chan = Naru. Rina-chan = Hina. Just the way they are. ^^)

N: 'Hina' too is really Hina. H: Un O: And both of you draw lots of pictures right? H: Yes, we did N: Yes during free times, we draw pictures that we like on the blank pages in the script (book). O: Yes you both showed lots of those drawings to me. There was also usagi (bunny) drawings. Usagi.. I thought why an usagi? and Ahhhh! In the original work (the manga), there is a part where Hina drew an Usagi. PL: Ohh that's the reason?

O: Actually not draw, there was a scene where Hina mentioned an 'Usagi'. I think it is around the 6th volume? There was that scene and when I read it I was like 'UWAAA' that's just how it is! I was moved.

(chii: I spent 2 hours browsing my Barakamon manga and only found it the next day it is SO SMALL omg AHHH *flips table*)

O: And also, Rina-chan/Hina is working as Panda Ambassador right? H: Un! PL: Oh? O/N: You didn't know? O: Then (hina) can you explain on your work as Panda Ambassador? H: Panda Ambassador does works like collecting funds for Panda's foods and also to distribute goods those who donated.

(the article and picture SOURCE: HERE. In which it shows us the hardworking Rina-chan. Under the cold rainy wheather, full of smiles.) PL: You did that? O: And you're the captain, right? H: Un! N: Captain! PL: Seems dependable ne? O: *laughs* Naru is randomly giving salutes (not sure because incomprehensible overlapping talks) PL: So you've been doing those activities?

(.... Um, some more panda taishi talk XD Are they looking at a picture or something)

N: Ouu~ O: Naru, you're making faces again just now, that's good, do more. N: Okay okay.

PL: And so, since we have these two here, we would like to have this corner, ready.. One, two..

N/H: "Sensei! Please Answer Our Questions Okay?" O: Ou! I'll do my best to answer since I've been asked like that. *laughs* PL: That's okay right, (sensei) will think and answer the questions. N: Un! Question #1 'Using the word [後生だからよ- Goshou dakara yo - extremely important or once in a life time request], please make a line of request/wish' *laughs* O: There's something like that ne. PL: Can you please repeat it once again? N: 'Goshou dakara yo...' XD O: 'Goshou dakara yo...' there's a line like that ne. Mm, a wish? N: Yes. PL: Yes with that line, please make any wish, anything is fine. O: Anything.. is fine? PL: Yes, because it is 'Goushou/once in a life time request'. O: "Its my once in a lifetime request, please let me take part in Barakamon?" PL: That's a good one, isn't it? O: Yes, after all it is still on-going and I already want to do the next one. PL: You already want to participate in the next one! N: Hina!

H: Question #2 is 'Among all the people on the island, which character is the most interesting in Sensei's opinion?' O: Ehhh, I think its everyone.. Everyone but, I have to choose only one? N: Yes, one person O: Only one person no matter what? H: And tell us the reason too O: The reason too? N: That's hard *giggles* O: Ehh I have to choose only one from all those people? Mm, Ah! Naru's grandfather. N: Eh? Why? O: Because he doesn't listen to other people. *laughs* O: You know, Sensei likes it when Naru's Grandfather goes 'HAA!!? Haaa!!?' N/H: So sensei likes the 'HAAA?!!', that's interesting! O: Sensei loves it so much, Daisuki!

N: Alright, Question #3 Naru dreamt of Ryuuguujou, if it is Sensei, will you open the Tamatebako (treasure chest that SHOULD NOT be opened)? [2] (** This is from Vol 01, Chap 02) PL: The question becomes something unrelated to Barakamon. O: The treasure chest.. after I brought it back right? That fun memory in Ryuuguujou.. I'll open it! *laugh* PL: Naru opened it? Naru saw it (Ryuuguujou) in dream right? N: Naru ne.. yep she opened it. O/PL: Then how was it? N: *laughs* O: Ah you laughed, so you cant say it? *laugh giggles* PL: That's very matured of her (Since I think it will/might be a spoiler to readers) O: Yeah she is. I see. If it is Sensei, I think I will open it definitely. N: Naru will open it too! O: Of course we will open it.. but we don't know what will happened though. We don't know the theory. N: If you opened it, you might turn into a bird (I'm no sure why she mentioned a 'Tori/bird'. If I heard it correctly, it could be because it sounds similar to 'theory') O: I definitely don't want that to happen, I'd rather age than turning into a bird. *laughs* N: What if, if you open it you turn back into a child. (I am so amused with Suzuko-chan she always has something interesting to say XD) O: Ehhh? Then I'll be like Naru (? more overlapping talk ||D). Naru you know what, back then Sensei was super cute too. I said the same thing too last week (Yep, he is Handa Seishuu alright, lol onoD 'otonagenai/childish'sensei he is XD). Naru and Hina requested it and I showed them the picture when I was a kid. PL: Yes it was very cute. O: I wanna be a child again.

H: Next, Question #4 Please tell us Sensei's favourite shop. O: Shop? Eh, any shop is fine? PL: Do you want to work as a shop keeper? H: No, but Sensei seems like he'd know interesting shops O: Ah, a shop that Sensei knows.. That, a place that I can drink beer? *laugh noise overlapping talks* O: Ah I see that's not it, not a drink shop okay.. lets see.. There's a hat shop in Harajuku..  N: I know I know that shop O: Today I'm wearing a hat that I received from a seiyuu friend. Now this kind of hat is in trend. N: I know, Hiroshi is wearing something like that too O: Yes Hiroshi, Uchiyama Kouki-kun right? Hiroshi usually wears this kind of hat too. Lately, Sensei has been using this hat frequently too. You know why it is a good one? Because even though your head is big, it fits. (LOL what kind of reason is that XD) *laughs* O: I recommend it. Lets try it on Hina who is the smallest here.. Here you go. Ohh CUTE! (I see, thus the cap in the picture above here I guess. Not a hat but a cap I see XD) All: Cuteeee. O: It is too big for you but Sooooo CUUTE. PL: Cuteee, this is Moe. O: Please stop the time (LOL you two ossanssss XDD) O: Cute, soo soo cute. I recommend this. There are kids who normally wear this kind of cap too, right? N: There is right? O: There is.

*Naru puts on the cap* PL: Ah Naru is cute too! O: Naru too with a cap! (??). Naru you looks like a b-boy. It looks good on you too, it looks good then lets go buy cap together.

N/H: Yosh, next Question #4 'What name do you call Pierre-san with?' O: Mushroom N: That's a lie, right? Before this you once said 'Kappa' right? O: I didn't said that, no~ N/H: You said it! That 'kinoko' (mushroom) *laugh* PL: Oi oi oi N: He said that you know PL: He said that?! N/H: Un! He said that N: 'That kinoko' 'That Kappa' - he said (LOL Sensei, kids sure are straight they dont keep secrets XD) O: Naru, I'm not really wrong because I said 'Mushroom' just now. *laughs* O: 'That kinoko'.. Did I really said something insulting like that? N/H: You said it PL: You even said Kappa? What a cruel man O: Yea.. then I'd like to ask everyone, when you see Pierre-san's head, what do you think? Why this hair style? This is Kappa! *laugh giggles* PL: So you really said it, you're really cruel! N/H: But it is really amusing XD *more overlapping talk and giggles* (and when I googled ok now I got it :p KAPPA! KINOKO! If you're curious: HERE)

O: How was it working as at the studio? PL: For me, I usually talk to their mothers, and then receiving snacks from them. I have become a good friend with their mothers. You see, as an author, I don't have much things to do during the afureko after all. I thought ah, you guys are working happily. O: Ah that's true, you've written it beforehand after all. PL: I ate chocolates with the mothers. O: You should stop it, seriously you had tea with their mothers like it is a normal thing to do, its funny. What are you doing being all close to them. O: Naru! Stop kicking my leg. N: No, I didn't do anything O: You're lying right? Fine then. (Lol this kid, so Naru XD )

/knocking sound/ O: Eh? What, we should end this corner? Gooot iiiit. You guys remember this! *threatening* XD

** PART 01 END. They actually went into the next (last) corner, in which they read and answer fan letters. I don't have the energy to do so anymore, so I'm stopping here and continuing later.XD

[1] I am not really sure because onoD & the other person are talking at the same time. If I heard it correctly 'Uissu' is the greetings usually used by the kids in clubs/bukatsu, like in sport anime? XD

[2] Ryuuguujou is the Palace of the Dragon King under the sea - it is a japanese folklore and is famously known related to the story of Urashima Taro.
