Man, I'm already thinking about a Pirate AU for my mermaid story. Where Coral is a Pirate that saved a mermaid when they're young and kept it from their crew until they healed it but Coral was almost caught, so they need to free the mermaid- Sunnie, who looks relatively better. Then 8 years passed and they meet again but this time when Coral's pirate crew were fighting another pirate crew and Coral ended up getting injured, thrown into the ocean but before they could drown, they seem to be saved by a certain mermaid.
