Random Stat: Rockie's Betancourt Has Longest Hit-By-Pitch-Less Active Streak in Majors (by FAR)

There's a very interesting article at Baseball Nation about Betancourt and his incredible streak of not hitting a batter. He's faced 2,217 batters since 2003, the year he last hit a batter. The second place pitcher, Mike Adams of Texas, doesn't even come close; he's at 1,196 batters faced with now beans.

The league average of BB/9 innings in the last 10 years is 3.3. Bettancourt's average is 2.1 for the same time period. Which isn't astounding, considering he hasn't hit a batter in so long, but it's still well below average.

For whatever it's worth, it's an interesting stat that'll probably hold up for a while.
