Some of my top questions about Zoe’s return to Casualty are: Are she and Max still together? and Will we be seeing Max again too?

now that cbs ghosts has established the universe and fully separated from the original bbc plots, it is fascinating to see the differences in what writers think the audiences will value in each show

the difference was already there just in the fact that trevor doesn’t actually push sam, it’s an accident, but julian very much pushes alison. or the focus they gave to sam and jay’s careers, while alison and mike are basically gig workers. but now that the shows have fully diverged, i feel like cbs ghosts pays more attention to the present, with less focus on the ghosts’ original eras or, say, the history of the house. other ghosts from other locations were very quickly involved, as was jay.

part of the reason for the present above all is the longer season. it definitely allows the house repairs to move along the season more slowly, for instance.

but i just find it so interesting! ghosts as a universe is a really good structure to build on for multiple audiences, and it’s cool to see such noticeable examples of different choices for different audience expectations

I finished season 4 of Merlin and I have thoughts. Spoilers, obviously.

It’s weird because the season is bookended by two huge battles for Camelot, both against Morgana, which felt strangely like...here we are again. There was some great growth for Arthur and Gwen. Merlin has become a bad ass. 

I’m still mad how badly Arthur freaked out over the Lancelot kiss. I mean, it was shitty, but he over-reacted. And I’m sad they never figured out she was enchanted for that. BUT HEY they got over it, Gwen is back, Gwen is queen, all is fine.  Season 4 has some great episodes (A Servant of Two Masters was surprisingly hilarious!) but it also felt to me like this is where the show dug its heels in and said “We are keeping the status quo.” Uther is gone, the old traitor is ousted, and yet tada, here’s Arthur’s uncle you’ve never heard of before suddenly at his side and for some reason wants to destroy his sister’s legacy by murderizing her son for some lady with magic. (I really did not get his motivation, either. It seemed like they just needed someone to be a traitor again and conjuring this guy up but it was hard to believe.)  Also, when Morgana does get Camelot, she doesn’t try to liberate the magic people. She just holds fist fights in the hall. It’s.. stupid. Just saying. (I was also sad she wasn’t dead at the end of the season, just because I’m tired of the Morgana Tries to Take Camelot plot line. I think she deserves an awesome redemption arc but I don’t think this show will give it to her.) 

One of the best moments was when Arthur finally faces her and is like “What happened to you, Morgana???” And I was like “RIGHT?? WTF HAPPENED?” and she gives some non-answer because it still doesn’t make any sense. But I digress. Merlin getting Arthur to believe in himself was awesome and I loved how they used the sword in the stone. Genius!  My biggest take away is that it’s very clear the show is never going to let Merlin reveal his secret and have Arthur accept it, and that is a huge bummer. I mean, there’s one more season, maybe I’m wrong, but I get the feeling that this was the place they would have done it. Arguably should have done it. Instead they make Arthur hate magic, too, and don’t give him any chances to see the error of his ways. LE SIGH. 

Looking forward to season 5 but also I know some things that happen so I am dreading it a little. :)

Random middle of the night thought... But is it just me who sees a weird similarity between Castiel from SPN and Angel from BtVS? Like just the general way they act specifically with their love interest. (I'm counting Dean as a love interest) And also when they temporarily turn bad. Maybe I'm crazy, please comment your opinion.

Thinking about shows that ended the way they wanted to and not because they got cancelled. Like Boston Legal, I never shipped Denny and Alan but damn if their marriage didn't make me bawl because that is just what you do when you have a best friend - you love them and care for them when they might not be able to do it themselves.

I’ve been slacking on my posting lately so here are some thoughts:

“This is Us:” Loved Kate and Rebecca’s bonding time and Rebecca coming to terms with her diagnosis. Not sure what’s going to happen with Kate and Toby, but he’s really bugging me lately. Still think Kevin and Sophie are end game.

“Chicago Med:” Endlessly frustrated with the lack of Manstead. Would it kill the writers to have them interact? Even as friends? Also, what is up with April? Maybe pump the breaks on the in vitro if you’re seriously lusting after Marcil. What Will was doing was admirable, but seriously considering going home with the doctor hooked on drugs is just a huge freaking mistake. What. The. Hell. Will? Recovery 101 is don’t get involved romantically for at least a year once an addict is clean. She’s not even clean yet. Get it together, Halstead.

Why do shows always do that thing where characters are supposed to be having a private conversation that no one else is supposed to hear and they do it in the most public place possible?

Especially on GH. Y’all be having the most public convos on the docks and then are surprised when someone overhears you.
