Rap Daddy (12)
Episode 12: Father’s Day
There were silent awkward stares between the rap daddies and the filming crew. They had been kidnapped from their homes at four in the morning and brought to a dimly lit studio without an explanation. It was obvious no one was working that early at the broadcasting station. “Why are we sitting in the dark like criminals” Bobby asked.
In response the crew lit up the room and brought down the screen they have used to show instructions for games and such. The PD asked for the live feed to begin and the screen was then split into four sections.
“That looks like my house” Mino commented. The crew was being filmed as they prepared outside of each rap daddy’s house before filming began.
“The challenge will begin now.” The PD’s announcement caught them all off guard. She knew they were concerned about the time so she put them at ease and explained how the day was going to go. “Today will be another rap kids versus rap daddies challenge. For the first challenge you will be asked to guess the results. If you guess correctly then the rap daddy team will gain a point but if you guess wrong then the point will go to the kids. For example, as you can see the crew has been dispatched earlier than usual to begin with the first challenge of the day.”
“Oh, they’re going into Yongguk hyung’s home.”
Yongguk saw his wife appear as she let the crew into their home. There was no sight of the twins since they were still sleeping. In order to keep from disturbing them they were all careful to whisper and step lightly.
“The crew assigned to Yong-Min and Yong-JIn has started earlier in order to successfully install the hidden camera.”
“Hidden camera?” They didn’t know what to expect, this was totally different from before.
The PD nodded, “We asked the crew to install hidden cameras in each of your homes. Your wives will be instructed to go about their day normally and not interact with the children unless they go up to them. As the kids wake up we will see their reaction to your absence on a filming day. They are all aware today is when we film. When I asked you individually about how they prepare for filming you all had one thing in common. The kids relied on you waking them up, getting ready, and leaving on time.”
Even though the PD was explaining to them the daddies gave their attention to the screens. They were amazed to see how the kids remained in their sleeping state even when the cameras were being installed. She took this chance to hand over the tablet that was prepared for them. “You will be using this throughout the day.”
Namjoon was the closest to the PD and received the tablet from her. He showed everyone the screen that had the kids’ names as options like in a game.
“For the first challenge I want you all to rank the children in the order you think they will wake up. You have five minutes to discuss and decide the order starting now.”
Namjoon immediately slid Mona’s name all the way to the bottom without discussing. “Mona can’t wake up on her own. She might not even show up today if you don’t ask my wife to wake her.”
They all laughed thinking of the situation.
“Do King or Ji-Young wake up before six?” Yongguk asked. “If not then I think Yong-Jin might be first. Yong-Jin is like a clock and wakes up every morning at six to go to the restroom.” Yongguk had seen how early Ji-Young would wake up for photo shoots so he felt he had
“King wakes up when King wants to wake up” Mino responded. “Sometimes I wake up and he’s already there in the living room watching cartoons with my girl and other times it’s impossible to wake him. He will lock the door and shout; five more minutes.”
“That sounds like him” Namjoon commented earning everyone’s agreement.
Bobby laughed imagining Mino being locked out by King. It was very unlike Ji-Young. “Ji-Young usually wakes me up. He has an alarm clock and he always sets it before sleeping.”
“What time does he wake up?”
“Today’s schedule said filming would start at eight so probably six or seven.” He shook his head unsure. “I’m not sure what it is. Yong-Jin should be first and Ji-Young second.”
After arranging the first and second place Namjoon was left with only two names to sort. “What about Yong-Min and King?”
Mino flicked his tongue thinking about the outcome. “I’m not sure...”
“Yong-Jin usually wakes up Yong-Min after setting out their clothes.” Yongguk didn’t know exactly how long that would be but he thought there was a good chance Yong-Jin could wake up his brother before King would wake up himself.
“Yong-Jin picks their clothes,” the PD asked interrupting them for a second.
“Yeah” Yongguk nodded. “They dress like twins because of Yong-Jin. He chooses the clothes.”
Namjoon moved Yong-Min’s name above King’s putting them in the order they had discussed. “Then do we agree on Yong-Jin, Ji-Young, Yong-Min, King, Mona?”
They all nodded as the timer went off announcing the five minutes were up. After hitting the enter button the names appeared in order on the screen where the live feed was playing.
“Now that you entered we will watch carefully to see the order.”
At 5:59 Bobby pointed out the movement from under Yong-Jin’s covers. “He really is going to get up at six!”
“Really?” Mino and Namjoon were in awe as they saw Yong-Jin jump out of bed at exactly six.
Unaware of the cameras Yong-Jin went into the restroom like usual. He got out and went about his usual routine. Going back to his room he made his bed before searching for his clothes. “Yong-Min” he called out to his brother to see if he was still sleeping. With no response, he sighed. “You can sleep more then.” Even if he was only minutes older Yong-Jin really acted like an older brother to Yong-Min.
It didn’t take long for the rap daddies to see movement coming from another camera. “Oh, Ji-Young is up!” Mino cheered, “we might win this one.”
Namjoon nodded in agreement. “It was close though. They woke up only a few minutes apart.”
The first thing Ji-Young did was turn off his alarm. He was blessed with a good head of hair but it seemed mornings were his hair’s enemy. He had a bad case of bed head and went out of his room to look for his mother.
In the living room, he found his sister watching television with a smile. She even jumped up and down on the couch getting excited. It was the first time the Rap Daddy cameras were able to capture such an image of Bobby’s daughter. When she noticed her brother she ran to him. “Oppa” her arms wrapped around him wishing him a good morning.
“This is my daughter,” Bobby told the producer as he pointed to the screen. “Ji-Soo isn’t aware of the cameras so she is acting like herself.”
“Does your sister always hug you?”
Ji-Young responded with a nod of his head. That was it, he didn’t know why he was being asked that question. He felt it was very normal because it was always like that for him.
What he didn’t know was that other siblings didn’t receive the same treatment. The cameras were able to catch the moment Yong-Jin pulled Yong-Min up into a sitting position on the bed. “Time to get up Yong-Min.”
Even if you two aren’t so far apart, do you still think of Yong-Jin as an older brother?
Yong-Min didn’t have to think about the question, he nodded immediately. “Mom said there’s a reason Yong-Jin was born before Yong-Min.”
“What’s the reason?”
“He can take care of himself and me.”
Yong-Min mumbled incoherent words that caused laughter to erupt in the studio before falling back again. “Yah! Yong-Min it's time!” Yong-Jin once again pulled him up.
This time Yong-Min opened his eyes. After a quick yawn, he jumped out of bed.
“The clothes are there” Yong-Jin pointed to his bed where he had laid out Yong-Min’s clothes for the day.
“Why do you get the black one?” Yong-Min complained about the clothes that had been given to him. “I like the black one.”
“Wake up early next time and I’ll let you choose.”
Yong-Min didn’t bat an eyelash and listened to his brother. He got dressed while Yong-Jin made his bed.
While three kids were already getting dressed, on the other side there were two very different ones. The cameras captured King as he slept sprawled out on the bed with one leg out of the blanket. Soft snores could be heard coming out of his open mouth before suddenly closing it and tossing around the bed to find an even better position.
Mino joined the others in laughing. “He’s always like this.” The scene was very familiar to him but it was still funny. He had captured King’s sleep on camera before and posted it on Instagram. It was one of the things he liked to share about King.
Then there was Mona who cuddled up into a ball while hugging a stuffed animal. Loose strands of hair covered her face slightly making it hard to see her. “She’s never going to wake up on her own” Namjoon shook his head.
The producer decided to wait a while longer to see what would happen. Before she knew it two hours had passed and the youngest two were still deep in sleep.
The rap daddies could see the way the producer began to worry. She kept getting calls from the crews who were waiting outside of each house for the filming to officially begin for the kids.
“You’re getting worried aren’t you?” Bobby asked.
“Even I’m getting worried” Yongguk admitted. He got up and went to the screen to point at Mona. “Are you sure she’s just sleeping? She hasn’t moved at all.”
Namjoon laughed, “She only moves when someone touches her. Usually, to wake her up I kiss her or pick her up. Like this it’s impossible.”
“Yeah, I don’t think King will wake up anytime soon either.” Mino thought it would be best if they allowed his girlfriend to wake him up.
After giving it some thought the producer decided to allow the mothers to intervene and wake up the remaining two.
“We will give you the point since you managed to get the order for the first three correctly.”
With the PD’s announcement, the rap daddies cheered.
After confirming all the kids were up and ready the PD began to explain what would happen next. “The children are on their way to the first location. The crew is taking them to a park where they will wait for you to arrive with a special guest.”
"Special guest?” they all asked. “Who did you bring this time?”
“No one” the PD answered vaguely before dropping a bomb on them. “We didn’t contact anyone to be on the show prior to today so the guests will be invited on the spot.”
“Isn’t that a bit inconvenient?” Yongguk asked.
“That is why this is also a challenge. The guests that will be invited are going to be chosen by the kids. If you successfully manage to get the guest to appear then you get the point, if not the point will go to the kids.”
“Wow” they all had different exclamations but the shock was going all around. They weren’t sure they could win this one.
The first ones to arrive at the park were the twins and Ji-Young. “Hyung” Ji-Young greeted the twins as soon as he saw them. They all got together in front of the area where the crew had set up the cameras.
“Ji-young was your dad gone this morning as well?” Yong-Jin asked out of curiosity.
“Yeah” Ji-Young nodded. “I asked mom and she said she couldn’t tell me anything.”
“Oh! Our mom too.”
As they kept discussing the situation King arrived looking more asleep than awake. He had the hood of his hoodie on, he pulled it down to shield his eyes from the brightness of outside. It was a sharp contrast from the van where he had continued his sleep.
The camera zoomed into King’s face as he silently approached the other three boys.
“Oh, there’s King.”
“He looks like he was still sleeping.” Yong-Jin was the first to notice King’s state. “King, were you just woken up?”
They chuckled as they saw him nod his head once in response. But soon a worse character appeared. Mona reluctantly jumped out of the van shielding her eyes from the sun. She looked upset, her eyes were squinted, her lips were pressed into a thin line, and her hair was loosely bouncing around in waves.
“Is that Mona?” Yong Min asked. He was unsure because of her lacking bubbly personality.
At the mention of her name, Mona put down her hands to show it was her. “Hello” she greeted in a soft voice. It was all very unlike her usual self.
King brightened up seeing his friend/ crush had arrived.
“Were you still sleeping too?” Ji-Young asked.
“Yeah” Mona admitted with a sheepish look. “Mommy woke me up and said I had to come here alone. I was still sleepy and Daddy wasn’t there to carry me.”
“Namjoon uncle always carries Mona.” King, of course, had noticed Mona was a bit of a princess type. “He does a lot of things for Mona but I can too.”
In order to start the kids were instructed in sit on the grass in a half circle, facing the cameras that were set up for them. They sat down in order of arrival and waited patiently.
As soon as the kids had settled down the writer began explaining what was going on as she held her phone out on a selfie stick. “Right now the daddies are in the studio. We will be using this phone to video call them and do the first kid’s mission.”
They nodded in understanding. Mona sighed as she swayed trying to keep from falling over due to drowsiness.
King looked over at her and without a word of warning used his left hand to prod Mona’s head onto his shoulder. “You can lean on me.”
“Thanks Oppa.” Mona wrapped her arms around King’s and resumed to comfortably listen to the rest of the instructions.
“That’s how it’s done” King smirked making the PD laugh. He was incredibly cute and charismatic that all the noonas in the room would be in awe.
"He’s too smooth, don’t you think?” Namjoon laughed uncomfortably as he responded to the scene.
“Are you jealous?” the PD asked.
“Not jealous, more like protective. After every episode more and more fan accounts get made for those two. They keep shipping them and hoping to see them together in the future.”
“We want you to ask the daddies to bring a friend along. You will be the ones to choose which friend you want them to bring.” The writer began the video call and while it was still ringing she handed off the phone to Yong-Jin. He and Yong-Min squeezed in together waiting for the call to be answered.
“Yong-Jin, Yong-Min” Namjoon greeted the kids. He was handed the phone by the producer so he had answered the call. They didn’t know who would be calling first but now that they did Namjoon passed it along to Yongguk. “It’s for you.”
Yongguk took the phone and saw his boys for the first time that day. “Yong-Jin, Yong-Min be nice to me and pick someone easy.”
“What do you mean?” Yong-Min asked.
“He doesn’t want Daehyun” Yong-Jin bluntly answered making Yongguk and the others in the studio laugh. “But it’s okay” he continued.”Because we want Zelo.”
“Why did you chose Zelo?”
“He is a speed rapper like us,” Yong-Min responded while Yong-JIn simply sat beside his brother and nodded along to what he said. “It’s always fun to compete against him and he always accepts our challenges so if he came it would be fun.”
Next Ji-Young and Bobby were handed the phones. “Dad, I’m going to make it easy for you. I know who you want to see so just bring Hanbin.”
Bobby laughed, “you got it.”
“Double B is what everyone wants to see. Bobby, B.I, don’t you know. Putting those together will make a great show.” Ji-Young sat back down in the interview chair and smiled. “That’s why I chose Hanbin.”
“That was great.” The PD thanked Ji-Young for the freestyle rap response to her question.
After passing the phone to Mino he turned to Yongguk. “I don’t think they know it’s best to pick someone difficult” he whispered not wanting them to hear.
“Did you tell them about the points?” Yongguk asked.
The producer shook her head. “Only you guys have to earn points so they don’t know about it yet. To them this is all prep for the challenge.”
As soon as Mino got the phone he burst into laughter. Seeing King’s uninterested expression. “Yah, King! What’s with the hoodie. You should take off the hood when recording.”
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I didn’t do my hair.”
His response got the rap daddies laughing again.
“I didn’t feel like a King that day.” King sighed remembering how he looked. “Don’t wake me up early again” he warned the producer.
“Everyone is picking group members but I won’t make it easy for you Mino.” King may not look like himself today but he sure was showing his attitude. “Bring Zico daebu.”
“I had a feeling he would pick him” Mino commented as he passed the camera back down the line to Namjoon.
As soon as Namjoon had the phone Mona’s voice came through loud and clear. “Daddy! Where were you?”
“They brought me to the studio very early.”
“Did you miss me?”
“Yes,” she responded the way they all knew she would. Unlike the boys, Mona was the only one who was concerned for her father. “I had to walk everywhere because you weren’t there.”
Namjoon chuckled feeling slightly betrayed, it seemed Mona only missed him because she didn’t have anyone to carry her. “Kim Mona you are going to sound like a princess.”
“I am a princess!” The daddies broke into laughter.
“King and Mona are made for each other” Mino commented.
“So who do you want me to bring for you?”
“Suga!” Mona happily shouted. She really wanted to see Suga for some time now. “He came back right?”
Namjoon nodded, “Yeah but what if he’s tired?”
“He’s always tired so it’s okay.”
Namjoon laughed before agreeing. “Okay, since you asked I will try and get him to come.
The writer went over to Mona to secure the phone. “Everyone say bye.” She let the rap daddies get a final look at the kids that were enjoying the fresh air in the park before ending the call.
“While we wait we will play a game of our own to earn points for the final game. It’s a memory rap game.”
The kids sat up, paying attention when they heard they would be rapping. Even King and Mona who were lethargic suddenly opened their eyes wide and leaned forward into the conversation.
“You have all done many original pieces while on the show. The producer has named them accordingly and in a way where we can find them if necessary. So if I say Bang Yong-Min Anon rap, what do you think I am referring to?”
“Yong-Min’s anonymous rap from the time we did a rap that didn’t say our names but described us.”
“Correct.”
At first, Mona and King had difficulty understanding the concept but eventually with the help of the older kids they understood.
“What we are going to do is, I have a list of all the verses.” She showed them her clipboard that had a stack of papers stapled together. She flipped through them quickly before stopping at a random one. “I will randomly choose one like this.” She looked down at the page she landed on. “Ji-Young Intro rap” she read from the page. “Then Ji-Young would stand and from memory rap the verse.”
“What if we don’t remember,” Mona asked. Her memory wasn’t the best, that’s why she wrote everything down in her notebooks.
“One of the others can help you. So if King or Yong-Jin remember it then they would stand and deliver. If they can’t do it either then the point is lost.”
While the kids had their own game going on, back in the studio the PD let the rap daddies start filing out of the studio. “You will have one hour to secure your guest and bring them to the park where the kids are waiting. Good luck.”
The daddies were each assigned a vehicle and were sent on their way.
“He’s busy these days so I don’t know if I can get him.” Yongguk scrolled through his phone looking for Zelo in his contacts. He selected his name making the call screen appear. He put the phone on speaker so the microphone could catch what was being said.
“Hyung!” Zelo was surprised to get a call from Yongguk so early in the morning. “What’s wrong?”
Yongguk’s eyes widened taken aback by his question. “Nothing is wrong. Why would you think something is wrong?”
“You don’t call me this early. Only one time when hyung was being scolded by his wife for staying out late.”
“Junhong!” Yongguk tried stopping him but it was too late. Zelo was a fast talker and had said it all before he could react. “I have the phone on speaker. It is being recorded for Rap Daddy.”
“Really!?” Zelo gasped. “Sorry hyung” he laughed realizing he had messed up.
“What was the reason for you staying out late?”
Yongguk lowered his head in laughter. He knew he would be asked. “That time I went with the guys to drink. I called Junhong because I wanted him to explain to my wife that I stayed with him.”
“Was she mad?”
Yongguk nodded, “Yeah” was all he could say to that. If he went into detail then she would surely get angry.
“Junhong what are you doing right now?”
“I am doing a radio show but I am on break right now. Why?”
“Ah, he’s working” Yongguk was worried he couldn’t get Junhong to go along with him. “When does it end?”
“In twenty minutes. When I go back we do the final discussion.”
“Oh” Yongguk smiled. They had an hour to get their guest and he would be able to make it since Junhong’s show was going to be over soon. “How do you feel about being on Rap Daddy?”
“I don’t have any kids” Junhong responded.
“You don’t have to. Today the boys were asked to pick a friend for me to bring along for the day and they chose you.”
“Why? Do they want to battle me?”
Yongguk laughed, “I won’t lie. They might have that motive.” There was a constant fight between Zelo and the twins. They tried to be faster than him and constantly got him to do a rap battle against them.
“Have you two won Zelo?”
“No” Yong-Min responded. “That’s why Outsider dabu is training us.”
“I’ll go.”
“I’ll pick you up then.”
“Okay”
“See you soon.” After hanging up Yongguk sighed in relief. “I got him.”
“Hanbin!” Bobby shouted out to Hanbin as he got out of the car.
“Bobby!” The two men ran towards each other. They hugged feeling overjoyed to finally see one another after so long.
The writer couldn’t help but laugh seeing the two grown men acting just like in their younger days. “Are you that happy to see each other?”
“Yes,” Hanbin nodded, “I haven’t hung out with Bobby in almost two months now. We text but it’s not the same.”
“Why don’t you see each other?”
They broke the hug as Bobby pointed to Hanbin. “He has a newborn baby girl so he has to stay home and help a lot these days.”
Hanbin nodded, “It’s my first child too so I don’ t know what I’m doing. That’s why I text Bobby a lot.”
“Most of those texts say, Am I doing this right or HELP ME, all in capital letters with lots of exclamation marks.”
“So we are constantly in touch by phone but we hardly see each other and it’s not the same.”
“Then today is a good opportunity for you two.”
Bobby nodded in agreement.
“Why?”
“Today one of our challenges is to bring along a friend that was picked by the kids. Ji-Young knew I wanted to see you so he picked you.”
“Ji-Young is such a good kid.” Hanbin, of course, knew Ji-Young well. Before he had his daughter he had difficulty meeting Bobby because he would be busy with Ji-Young and then with Ji-Soo.
“Do you think you can go?”
Hanbin thought for a moment. “It’s going to be difficult for my wife but I think I can go on one condition... Give me a kiss and I’ll go.” Hanbin held onto Bobby tightly not letting him back away. Bobby laughed nervously as Hanbin puckered up his lips. He tried moving back but he couldn’t anymore.
As soon as Zico opened the door he saw the camera and closed it. “Why didn’t you warn me!”
“Sorry hyung but there was no time.”
“Then don’t come” Zico shouted making Mino laugh. He knew he was just playing around. He would never turn him away.
“But I need you hyung. I need to bring a friend today.”
“Then take Ji-Hoon.”
“But your godson chose you.”
“What made you change your mind.”
“Song King.” Zico bobbed his head up and down “I would do anything for my godson. Even go on television when I only slept three hours.”
Zico opened the door for Mino. “For my godson, I will go, but...” that last part worried Mino. “...my wife isn’t home. I’m alone with Harang. Do we have to leave now?”
Mino looked to the cameraman “how much time do we have left?”
“Thirty-two minutes, minus the fifteen minutes it takes to get to the park.”
“Can your wife get home in time?” Mino really wanted to succeed in the challenge and bring Zico along.
“I’ll call her, come inside” he led them in as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “Harang we have guests.”
Harang was too focused on the television he didn’t notice the people who had gone into his home until his father spoke to him. That was when he got off of his comfortable bean bag and greeted Mino who he already knew. “Uncle Mino where’s King?”
“He’s filming Rap Daddy right now.”
“Oh, that’s why the cameras.” He pointed at it.
“Harang keep our guests company while I call Mom, okay?”
Harang nodded.
“Yoongi is always home these days. He just finished his solo tour so he might be tired. I feel bad for coming to get him without notice.”
“Don’t you think you should have called first?” The cameraman asked.
Namjoon shook his head. “Someone is always home in this house. You will never come here and not get a response at the door.” He rang the doorbell and it only took a second for a low feminine voice to make it through the speaker. “Who is it?”
“Ah, Sofia!”
“Yeah?”
“It’s uncle Namjoon.”
There was no response after that, instead the door opened revealing an elegant looking young girl with brown-red hair.
This startled the cameraman as well as the rest of the staff that watched the episode as it was being edited because they added a caption that said: the voice came from this young girl!
“Yoongi’s daughter is very unique.”
“You mean the voice? She sounds exactly like her mother. They have a low husky voice that usually males have but theirs does sound a bit feminine. I have called Yoongi and his wife will answer. I say oh Sofia hunny can you let me talk to your dad.” Namjoon and the producer laughed imagining what was next before he even said it. “Then I hear his wife laughing as she passes the phone to Yoongi. She never corrects me and only passes the phone along.”
“Sofia’s appearance...she looks so elegant and mature for a little girl.”
Namjoon nodded agreeing with her. “She is that’s why it’s so shocking to know she is only one year older than Mona.
She backed up as she saw the cameras.
Namjoon could see she was a bit flustered. “It’s okay, Sofia these are the cameras that record Rap Daddy.”
“Ah” she nodded.
Yoongi came out of his room when he heard all the talking. He ruffled his hair as he saw Namjoon in his doorway.
“Daddy look it’s Rap Daddy” Sofia informed her father as she went to pull him closer.
“I see” Yoongi always watched the show to support Namjoon and Mona. “Let’s sit down” he offered feeling tired. He had just come back from a long plane ride.
As they made their way to the living room the cameraman spotted something interesting. He zoomed into a picture on the living room wall with a familiar face. “Is that Mona?”
“Yeah” Yoongi responded. “That’s Sofia and Mona when they were flower girls for Taehyung’s wedding last year. Mona and Sofia are really close.”
“All the BTS offspring are close. We used to call them Bulletproof Babies but now they aren’t babies.”
“Except for Taehyung’s baby girl” Suga corrected him.
“Yeah, so now they are Bulletproof Kids but it doesn’t sound as good. We have to think of a new one.” Yoongi nodded in agreement.
“Now the final round,” the writer flipped the papers more than three times to build the kid’s anticipation. They had already accumulated six points and were going for the seventh. “Ji-Young’s Hard Rap.”
“Hard rap?” Mona’s brow furrowed completely clueless of which rap the writer was referring to.
“It’s the repetition one where we had to repeat one word in the verse. From the day we did the tongue twister” King explained. “Ah” she nodded even though she had no idea which it was, “I don’t remember.”
Ji-Young threw his head back looking up at the sky as he tried to recall the words. He licked his lips before starting to recite what he remembered.
All things are not hard. Fully dressed in Hugo Boss, walking down the catwalk, posing as we cross. Modeling is not hard.
He stopped, he had drawn a blank and didn’t remember the next part. “Aish!” he ruffled his hair in frustration.
“We will give you a chance to win the point if someone else can continue from there.” The writer hadn’t done this in any of the previous rounds but decided it would be fine since it was the last one. “Does anyone know it?”
King looked at the others to see if anyone would step up but they all had the same blank expression; so he raised his hand. “I think I know it.” He wasn’t very sure about the last line but he would try it since no one else seemed to remember it either.
Talking with rhyme, making a beat, timing our lines, Raping is not hard. When I put my mind to it I can do it all.
Ji-Young and King stood up front waiting for the writer to tell them if they had done it correctly.
“That is correct.”
“Yes,” Ji-Young fist bumped King. The twins and Mona stood up and cheered as well. Now they had the seven points they needed in order to gain an advantage.
“Now that you have earned your points we will move onto the next area.” The writer was taking the kids to another part of the park that was more for exercising than recreational purposes. As soon as they got there they saw the people who were waiting for them.
“Daddy!” Mona ran past everyone and jumped into Namjoon’s arms. Mona wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her. It was past noon and it was the first time she was seeing her father. Namjoon, of course, was also being overly loving to his daughter. He gave her multiple kisses on the cheek.
Once she felt comforted she turned to the other man who had come for her. “Suga!” she unwrapped her arms from Namjoon and reached out to Yoongi.
“Hey doll” Yoongi always referred to Mona as a doll like her name suggested.
While Mona was happiest seeing her father, King was happiest seeing the guest he had requested. “Daebu” King went up to him and began the secret handshake he shared with his godfather, leaving Mino to watch.
“Hey! I’m here too.”
“Hello kids” the producer greeted the five children. Because she was in the studio with the daddies she hadn’t seen them till now. “We asked you to chose a guest you wanted to bring along and because you chose them you will now be responsible for introducing them.”
The cameras went to the twins who stood on either side of Zelo. “Hello everyone this is Choi Jun-Hong” Yong-Jin began. “Or better known as Zelo of B.A.P” Yong-Min continued.
“Yes Sir!” Zelo saluted.
Next was King. By now his father had helped him out with his looks. He took the hood down and gave him his hat so he could hide his messy undone hair. He stood in front of Zico, “this is my godfather, rapper Zico and leader of Block B.”
Zico smiled as he tilted his head slightly in greeting to the camera.
“Hello” Mona gave a slight bow of her head while still in Suga’s arms. “If I pick a favorite from BTS it would be my Suga, Min Yoongi.” Mona always referred to Yoongi by his stage name because she absolutely loved it.
Suga laughed shyly as he waved.
“If it wasn’t taken I would use Suga as a stage name.” Mona giggled.
“This is my dad’s best friend Kim Hanbin.” At that moment Bobby and Hanbin hugged proving how close they were. “Together they are MOBB and members of ex-idol group IKON.”
“Hello” Hanbin concluded Ji-Young’s intro with a greeting of his own.
Everyone clapped at the end, letting the kids know they had done a good job. The producer then proceeded to explain the final game of the day. “The main event will be the playground chase.”
The kids grew excited as they heard the name of the game but the rap daddies were the complete opposite.
“Chase? As in we have to run?” Yongguk asked.
The PD shook her head. “Only if you can, for this game the chase part is all done by the kids but the daddies must escape.”
“if we can?”
“The rap daddies will be bound to their guests like this. The producer called for the staff model. Two people were bound together by the arm and foot to make the illusion of two becoming one. “You will require excellent teamwork to move around.”
As soon as the demonstration was over the daddies were bound to their guest by the staff. Yongguk immediately struggled to keep up with Zelo’s wide strides. Every time they tried moving the legs that were bound together it seemed Yongguk would do the splits. “Jun-Hong” Yongguk stopped him from going faster.
Mino held onto Zico for dear life as they kept coming close to falling. “You were supposed to move next” Zico complained.
“No, it was your turn” Mino shot back. “It goes left, right, left-”
“This is my left!” Zico was losing his temper. My left is attached to your right so we can’t shout left, right.”
Mona was on the verge of tears as she watched Zico and Mino’s struggles. She was laughing more than anyone had ever seen her laugh. She was becoming breathless and even snorted occasionally.
“What was that?” Suga asked surprised that that noise was coming from Mona. “She’s never done that before.” He and Yongguk laughed every time Mona snorted.
Mona doubled over trying to catch her breath but it was no use. She finally stopped snorting but because she got the hiccups.
King held her hand trying to help her stop.
Ji-Young brought her a bottle of water to stop the hiccups but she couldn’t even drink it.
“Mona laughs a lot but never like that” Yong-Jin was still surprised by how long Mona had laughed that day.
Meanwhile, there was perfect sync between Hanbin and Bobby. They were running circles around the others. “This is easy” Bobby laughed as he saw the others struggle to even walk.
“Just as I expected” Ji-Young smiled.
“When you think about it, it’s not a good thing for you. That means your Dad will be the hardest to catch.”
Ji-Young remained silent as he thought about what the producer said.
“Now, this is a private area of the park. As you can see it’s only the crew here but after we go around this small playground there is a gate that leads to the rest of the park. It’s a really big park beside the many playgrounds it also has a basketball court, tennis courts, golf course, soccer field, and a small hiking trail.”
The kids were left speechless as they imagined how big it must be.
“It is all open to the public so there are many people out there. They can either help or condemn you.” She directed her last statement to the daddies. “Because there are so many it is easy to hide and move around but they might also call you out and let the kids know where you are.”
“Good thing we have sunglasses” Mino pointed out. In his mind, it would be easier for him and Zico to conceal their identity with them.
“But we will draw attention with every step if you keep falling.” Zico knew it was pointless to have sunglasses. “They won’t be able to stop laughing like the little girl.” Zico pointed to Mona who was now over it but still gave a small giggle. “King, just follow the laughter.”
King nodded, “Yes.”
“We don’t need anyone to call out. Jun-Hong will stick out regardless.” Yongguk pointed at his very tall friend and guest.
“We have a special rule for the twins. To make it fair for Yongguk and Zelo the twins will not be searching at the same time. The game has a two-hour time limit so they will get one hour each to search. They may split it however they want. Once you find your target you must bring them back here before the time is up in order to count it.”
With a ten minute head start the dads were out of the reserved area to look for hiding spots. Well, Bobby and Hanbing at least, the rest were slowly making their way out to the populated area.
Surprisingly they were able to walk around in peace. There weren’t crowds around them. Most of the people there were families who had their own fun going on but there were some groups of people who were interested in the idols.
“Oh, it’s BTS.” Namjoon and Suga together had people thinking all of BTS was there.“Rap Monster!” “Suga!” They called out to them from the basketball court as they passed.
“Hello” Namjoon and Yoongi waved to them.
“Oh isn’t that Mino?” The same group saw Mino and Zico coming from the same direction as Namjoon. “And Yongguk is there too.” They saw him in the distance slowly making his way there with Zelo.
“Oh is this Rap Daddy?” One of the female fans asked Namjoon.
“Yes.”
“Oh my god, where is Mona?”
“Where is King?”
“And the twins!”
“Is Ji-Young with Bobby?”
“The kids were more popular than their parents. Instead of saying oh my god Oppa. Mino Oppa, Zico Oppa, Namjoon Oppa, BAP, BTS, they were asking for the kids.” Zico wasn’t very surprised. This had happened to him before. “This is our lives now.”
“Has this happened to you before?”
“Yes, once I was at a bar with my wife and they said, ‘oh Harang’s dad is here’. Their faces lit up but then. Then they said ‘where is Harang, you should bring him next time.”
The producer laughed at the ridiculous request.
Zico did too. “Can you believe it? At a bar, they want me to bring my elementary school son to such a place.”
After the ten minutes were up the kids were released. “You go first. I don’t think dad will go to the playground so don’t look there. I will look at the fields and courts for the first hour then you do the hiking trail if I can’t find him” Yong-Jin came up with a plan knowing his brother could run fast meant he could probably cover that hike easily and if his father wasn’t there Yong-Min would have enough time to look through the park again.
Yong-Min nodded, “Okay then.”
Yong-Jin leads the way out. The other kids all stood beside him, following his lead since they were unsure of where to go. “To find them faster you should ask the people if they saw anyone go by.”
“Can we do that?” King asked his cameraman.
He nodded.
“Oh let’s try it.” They came across the basketball court the dad’s had all passed and immediately caught the attention of those who were playing.
“Mona and King you are so cute together.” The phones were all pointed at the kids as they took pictures and videos. Yong-Jin decided to demonstrate what he had told the others. “Did you guys see Bobby?”
“They ran!” “He and Hanbin went that way.” “They went to the soccer field. We were just there.”
Ji-Young was surprised they outed his father’s location so easily. “Thank you” he thanked the people before running to the soccer field.
“Good luck Oppa!” Mona shouted out to him.
With Ji-Young gone Yong-Jin continued to ask for the others locations. “What about Mino and Zico?”
“They followed Namjoon and Yoongi that way.” They pointed to the path that leads to both the playgrounds and picnic areas.
“You two can go that way and look together. If you help each other it will be easier.”
Mona and King nodded. “Thanks Oppa, we will go now.”
“Good luck hyung” King ran after Mona who was too excited to begin the search.
Now that Yong-Jin was alone he became the center of attention. “Which twin are you?”
“He’s Yong-Min.” “No, he has to be Yong-Jin.”
“Yes, I’m Yong-Jin. I only have one hour then Yong-Min and I switch so I have to look quickly. Did you see my dad and Zelo?”
“Yeah, Zelo had to use the restroom. The closest one is in the tennis court lockers but I think someone was giving them directions to the picnic area. There are some there too.”
Yong-Jin nodded, “thank you.” Before he left he took a picture of the people who helped him and the kids out.
“So what’s your plan?” Yong-Jin’s cameraman asked.
“I’m going to the tennis court but I’m going to search every place as I go. Then if they aren’t there I’ll go check the picnic area. If Mona or King finish first then I can ask them if they saw my dad there and Yong-Min can get them.”
“You are very smart.”
Yong-Jin smirked, “it’s strategy like in video games.”
Ji-Young who had received information first had already made it to the soccer field. What he didn’t know was that there were multiple soccer fields in this park and not all of them were together.
“There are so many people.” It was hard to see from a distance because everyone was running back and forth as they played.
The camera closed up on his gaze as his eyes went back and forth looking at the vast fields for his father and Hanbin. He tried singling out people who were wearing the same color as his father but it was hard when they constantly moved. “Ah!” He became frustrated and shouted. “This is too much.”
“Isn’t that Ji-Young over there?” Hanbin asked as he spotted him.
Bobby only took a glance before dropping to the ground, taking Hanbin with him. “We have to stay out of sight.” However, this action drew attention to themselves.
People began crowding around them as they learned to crawl while bound together.
“Oh” Ji-Young spotted the growing numbers of people in a specific area. “There’s a lot of people over there. Should I go?” he asked the cameraman. He didn’t wait for an answer he got down and retied his shoes before running across the fields to get to the crowd.
Looking through the gaps between the people Bobby spotted a fast approaching Ji-Young“He’s coming” he whispered over and over again feeling panicked.
Hanbin felt they were going nowhere by crawling. “Forget this, let’s just run.” When he tried standing he fell back down. Even they, who had perfect synchronization earlier, were having difficulties navigating as a pair at the moment. “Come on we have to stand on the count of three. One, Two, Three.”
That’s when Ji-Young saw them. “I found them,” Ji-Young told the cameraman before giving chase.
King and Mona had followed the path they were told to. They began to see how many people were there. “Should we split up to find them faster?” King knew it would be easier for both of them if they did this because then if they spotted someone they could just tell each other. “You go that way and I’ll go this way. If you find someone just call me.”
Mona nodded, “yes Oppa.” With that, she went deeper into the picnic area. There were many gazebos where families gathered to eat. As Mona walked by them searching for her father she caught the eye of many people. At first, they thought she was lost but seeing the cameraman dissolved that theory.
Then there were those who recognized her. “Pretty face, pretty girl” a woman carrying a newborn baby recited the first couple of phrases from Mona’s introductory rap making her get closer.
“Better than you’ve ever known,” Mona responded by saying the next part. This earned a gasp of excitement from the woman.
“Oh, it is you. You’re Kim Mona.”
“Yes,” Mona smiled.
“You are so much cuter in person. Are you filming Rap Daddy” she pointed at the camera.
“Yes, we’re playing a game with the daddies. Have you seen my dad and Suga pass by here?”
The woman shook her head. “I didn’t but someone was saying they saw them earlier. I didn’t believe them but now that I saw you I know it’s true. They said they saw Rap Monster and Suga in picnic area seven. That’s more down there.”
“Ah, thank you.” Mona was about to leave when the woman stopped her.
“Wait” she beckoned her over. “Here, have some” she gave Mona a slice of watermelon.
Mona happily accepted, “thank you.” She spotted King in the distance and called him over.
“Did you find th- where did you get that?” He was surprised to see Mona chilling with a slice of watermelon.
“A nice noona gave it to me.” She offered it to him “want some?”
“Ah-er- okay” he carefully took a bite feeling a warmth on his cheeks. “It’s good.”
“Right!” As Mona looked around she spotted a man grilling meat. The smell came to her making her want some. “Look Oppa they are making something good.”
She dragged King along to where the meat was. “Hello Ahjussi, what are you making?”
“Bulgogi” he responded noticing the way the kids stared at the food. Once a piece was finished he offered it to Mona.
Mona opened her mouth and was fed a piece of the yummy marinated beef. “Mmmm...” she gave him a thumbs up.
The nice man also gave King a piece and he too enjoyed it. “Mmm- it’s good” King covered his mouth as he spoke while chewing.
Before long they were wondering from picnic table to picnic table being offered various foods. They even sat down with one family as they gave them Kimbap.
“Oh, they sat down now” Suga was impressed to see how Mona so easily interacted with everyone.
Namjoon sighed, “she doesn’t even care about looking for us anymore. She’s too busy eating so I guess we’ll be fine here.” Suga and Namjoon sat down relaxing after being crouched behind the trees.
“Mona” Yong-Jin called out to her and King as well. “King, did you two find anyone?”
“No, but try this Oppa” Mona offered him some of the food that they were given. Yong-Jin gladly took a piece. He had looked for his dad where people told him and in other places. Now he had come to check the picnic area.
They were enjoying the food when Bobby and Hanbin zoom past them followed by JI-Young.
“Oppa” Mona made him notice their presence.
“Ji-Young you found them.” Yong-Jin was surprised to see the young boy had managed to find the fastest group.
“Ah, hyung-” Ji-Young was gasping for air. He was chasing them all the way from the soccer fields and now that he stopped running he felt how tired he was. “When you find them you have to touch them to end it but I can’t catch them.”
“We’ll help.”
The boys ran after Bobby. Mona stayed behind and thanked the nice family for the food. “Thank you but we have to go.” Mona joined the guys and soon they began running around the playground, chasing Bobby and Hanbin.
Yong-Jin was steadily catching up to them making Bobby nervous. “Yah!” Habin stopped when he saw Mona and King ahead of them. “Why are all of you chasing us? The others are over there hiding.”
While they were distracted Ji-Young managed to get close enough to tag them. “There,” he breathed out, “I’m done.” He sat down on the ground feeling exhausted.
“Bobby and B.I out” the cameraman used his radio to let the staff know.
“Did you see daddy over there?” Mona asked Bobby.
Bobby nodded after the cameraman took off their restraints he walked her over to a spot where he could show her. “Look there” he pointed at Namjoon and Suga who were leisurely sitting as they hid under the shady gazebo. “If you go around this playground you can get them from behind.”
“Oh,” Mona nodded understanding the plan. “Thanks Bobby uncle.” She waved to everyone “bye Oppas, I’ll catch Daddy for sure.”
“Ji-Young you can take your dad and Hanbin back to the reserved area and rest.”
“Okay” Ji-Young smiled happily to have finished the challenge.
“Yong-Jin you have to return as well. Your hour is up and you must switch with Yong-Min.”
“Can you go down” Mona motioned for the cameraman to crouch. She didn’t want to be caught when sneaking up behind them. There was a short distance between her and her target but it was a wide-open space where she would easily be found.
Namjoon and Suga were very relaxed after seeing how Mona became distracted. “I don’t think we have to do much.” Namjoon sat back bringing Yoongi back as well.
“Even if she finds us do we really have to run?” Yoongi was lazy and didn’t want to be chased when it was a sunny day. “Can’t we just surrender? We’ve given you enough to work with right?”
The cameraman shook his head.
“if not from us then you can probably just put a bunch of scenes where Mino and Zico falling.”
“Speaking of that, look who’s over there.” Namjoon pointed to King as he walked alongside the newly released Yong-Min.
“King!”
King turned his head in every direction when he heard his name being called out. He quickly ran towards Namjoon when he saw him beckoning him over with his hand. “You called me?”
“Oh King oppa is there” Mona whispered to the cameraman. Oh and Yong-Min Oppa.” Mona was able to tell which twin he was by the color of his clothes. Seeing King there gave Mona an idea. “They are distracting Daddy for me so I can just go carefully.”
Mona peeked her head out a little trying to see if she could get King or Yong-Min’s attention. She waved her hands but it was no use. They were intently listening to Namjoon and Yoongi.
“I’m going to go for it.” Mona was confident they wouldn’t say anything once they saw her. “You stay here.” She instructed the cameraman to stay behind and film from a distance.
Mona then came out of hiding and began running in their direction.
Yong-Min spotted Mona immediately but remained quiet. His eyes shifted back and forth from Namjoon’s face to the background where Mona was coming from. But when King saw her he didn’t play it as cool. “Ah, Mona.”
“Where?” Both Namjoon and Yoongi turned their heads and shouted when they saw Mona was right behind them.
“Got you” Mona cheered as she held onto the bounded hands of her dad and Suga.
“You two distracted us” Namjoon pointed at the two boys. “Was this your plan all along?”
“No,” Mona giggled. I came before the Oppas but I was hiding over there.” She pointed to where the cameraman was walking from. “Namjoon and Suga, out” Mona’s cameraman called it in before untying the two of them.
“How much time is left?” King asked. It felt like he had been searching forever. His father and godfather were the worst at moving around so he expected to find them quickly but that was not the case.
“45 minutes remaining.”
“Ah, Oppa you have to hurry.”
“Zico and Mino’s plan was to crawl to the farthest place. Since they couldn’t run, they didn’t feel safe staying here.” Namjoon finished telling King what he had called him over for. He wanted to help the kids out by telling them what he knew. Even now that he had been caught he continued to give the information. “Yongguk and Zelo were doing the opposite. They were going to stay close to the entrance.”
After Mona left with her father and Suga, King and Yong-Min split up. King followed the path he had been on before until he reached the base of the hiking trail. “They wouldn’t go up there. They would get stuck.”
There were many people in the area. Some were stretching out before starting the hike, others were resting after having made it back down. As the day progressed the sun got brighter.
King turned when he heard the familiar shutter sound of a cellphone. That’s when he saw a couple of girls taking his picture. He went over to them since they knew him he figured he could ask them for help.
“Hello” he greeted them.
The girls, both aged fifteen, awed by his cuteness responded with a high-pitched voice that sort of squeaked. “Hi, you are so cute.” “Can we take a picture together?”
King nodded in agreement. After the picture was taken he decided to ask them. “Have you seen Zico or Mino.”
“Oh, your dad was here earlier. It got too hot and sunny so they said they would go somewhere cooler.”
“Yeah, they went that way. Do you want us to show you?”
King nodded accepting their help, even though he didn’t need it. As soon as he got close to them Mino and Zico started panicking and ran out from hiding.
“Hurry Jiho, left, right, left right!” Mino kept yelling as King ran after them.
“I told you it doesn’t work!” Zico yelled at him before they both fell over. King quickly took the opportunity and tagged them. “Got you.”
“Mino and Zico out.” King’s cameraman confirmed with the crew.
“You two lasted longer than anyone expected. How do you feel?”
“Hurt” Zico chuckled. “Not emotionally but physically. We fell so many times and Mino wouldn’t shut up with his left, right chant.”
“I was trying to help.” Mino laughed.
“I told you it doesn’t work!” Zico shouted feeling drained. “I’m done.” He sighed as he let his head fall back onto the black couch.
This left a laughing Mino to take over. “The microphone didn’t catch it but Jiho was cursing over and over.”
“Really?” The PD asked.
Zico simply nodded. He was very tired.
As they headed back to the beginning they saw Yong-Min chasing after Yongguk and Zelo. They had him running circles
“Hyung keep up.” Zelo was making Yongguk use more energy than he knew he had. His legs felt like they would give out anytime soon.
“It didn’t hurt much during the game but after...” Yongguk grimaced. “It was hell. I sat down and then I couldn’t stand up.”
“The next day I called to see how hyung was doing but Yong-Jin answered saying he didn’t want to talk to me. But he says he wasn’t mad.”
Yongguk laughed, “Maybe a little.”
“Hyung you go to the left and I go to the right.” King quickly suggested a solution to Yong-Min’s problem.
Yong-Min nodded and they both ran to catch Yongguk and Zelo while Zico and Mino stood by watching. “Did we look like that while running?” Mino asked.
“Worse” Zico answered. “They are actually running. We were crawling.”
Yongguk and Zelo ran in King’s direction figuring they had a better chance of getting away from him than Yong-Min who ran really fast. What Yongguk didn’t know was that King had gotten faster than the last time they played hide and seek. King caught Yongguk and held on to him. “Hyung hurry.”
Yong-Min quickly got to him and tagged his father. “Done.”
Yong-Min’s cameraman checked the time to make sure he completed the challenge. “Yongguk and Zelo out,” he announced making not only Yong-Min celebrate but the others too.
“We did it!” Mona shouted after she heard the announcement come through to the producer. All the kids jumped up in joy.
“I can’t believe you two stayed out this long” Bobby’s comment was aimed at Mino and Zico. “We can’t either.”
Once they were all together the PD formally announced the winners. “A round of applause to the kids for winning today’s challenge. Congratulations!” She and the staff all congratulated them. “Then a round of applause to our guests who joined us on such short notice and ran on this bright sunny day through a crowded park for the future rap stars.”
Zelo, Zico, B.I, and Suga accepted their thanks with bright smiles.
“To celebrate Father’s Day we will be treating you to dinner tonight with all of your families.”
“Woah!” “Yes!” They all clapped harder, happy to hear what their gift would be.
That night there was a packed restaurant filled with the Rap Daddy cast, and crew along with their families, guests, and also the families of their guests.
“Sofia!” Mona ran to greet her friend, Yoongi’s daughter, once she entered the restaurant.
“Mona!” the little red-hair girl responded by hugging her.
Mona took her to the table where all the other kids were. She sat down next to King, who brought Harang over. Ji-Young brought his younger sister, while the twins didn’t bring anyone new, they met all the others and remained the eldest of the bunch.
At the end when the episode ended with a black screen text appeared. “Happy Father’s Day from Yong-Jin, Yong-Min, King, Ji-Young, and Mona to the Rap Daddies!” Then a picture was shown of all the kids and their father’s from the first episode.

A/N: Now you see why it took so long? This is waaay too long.
