My hubby's black cat, Gracie, slipped out the door last Saturday night and hasn't been seen since. 😔 In searching for her, we learned that both our park AND the city FINES people for caring for stray cats! They trap them and either inhumanely dispose of them, or they're taken to the humane society. Humane Society of the Black Hills has little interest in adopting cats, as proven with lack of adoption programs (dogs only!) AND the fact they rooms full of "stray" cats that'll never make it to the adoption floor, much less their website. The local Petco does adoptions, except their cages are hidden behind merchandise and typically remain empty. Someone has to call put Rapid City for the absolutely ATROCIOUS and APPALLING way cats are treated here. Zero TNR programs, no professional rescues, little attempts to adopt homeless cats. Just SHAME ON YOU.
