Fun fact: I've ended up dating both the blondes I've met. In fact, I showed my mom a pic of the microbiologist and she laughed and thought I was showing her a pic of the PhD candidate as a joke. I found that highly amusing. (Especially since one is 5'7 and the other 6'2)

so i'll tell you what i told my professor when she asked me what my original was about... i said it's just about figuring life out with people. it's written about a friend who had a lot of bad shit in her life. i wrote this as a way of saying "i can't take on your life for you, but i can live right next to you and we can 'tether together' so we're less likely to sink when life sucks." that's how i view all of my friendships. we're just tethering together as we sail along, trying to figure out how to get to where we want to be.
