In the preview of next episode Mew and Ray are wearing a couple costume. But I don’t think this is a ‘couples costume’.

Yes they are Harley Quinn and The Joker but the outfit they are wearing are from different cinematic universes.

This joker is a story about a man with a lot of mental illness and trauma who people saw as villain.

While this Harley Quinn is a movie about a Harley who has been deeply hurt by love. Who uses her ‘good girl’ aesthetic as a decoy to get what she wants.

let's talk chemistry

The whole production is a genius.

When Ray and Mew first got together, in that dancing scene, i felt their chemistry explode. Like literal fireworks i was like wow oh damn.

That's because they're trying to show how Ray feels like everything's finally falling into place. The person he's loved for the longest time's finally chose him.

But then!!! in the next episodes I feel how awkward their dynamic became. Every time they talked about each other I was like, are they really dating? oh? it's really a thing?

Like they had no chemistry at all and I was cringing most of the time.

And then, when they decided to go back to being friends, I felt like I could finally breathe, like the pieces finally fall into place. And their chemistry's back.

I honestly can't give this series enough praise. The directing, the acting, the cinematography, everything's just chef's kiss. I love it.

THE RAY MEW FRIENDSHIP - EP 5

This is a dying friendship at the moment. Ray feels so much for mew - friendship, love, and so much gratitute. And it's so interesting how long and how much ray has held on to their past, because their current friendship actually feels like a shadow of what it once was.

Knowing what we now know about ray calling himself a burden and how far down that lack of self worth actually took him, i am now thinking about the scenes in ep 1 when we saw boston call him a burden, ray call himself a burden and mew say and do nothing about it. Ray looked so grateful to mew when mew just asked boston to take him home.

Mew is sort of giving the bare minimum (maybe not even that) to this relationship right now. I think mew has actually developed some resentment towards ray. It could be the responsibility of having to take care of someone with an addiction, or knowing how ray feels about him and not wanting that level of adoration, affection, dependence from ray or some combination of the two. But mew looks most animated while talking to ray when he is trying to get him to get together with sand. Maybe an underlying wish to have ray's overwhelming emotions focused on someone else and then they would stop being his problem.

It's also heartbreaking how much mew does not stand up for ray or for their friendship. We see that he can and does stand up to top when he wants to. But every time top disparages ray, or makes comments about their friendship that are definitely none of his business, mew says nothing.

And on a side note, when top told mew about using drugs, he panicked at the idea top being anything like ray.

And while his instincts and desire to set boundaries with ray are very very fair, he does often come across as cold. Even when ray had a genuine question about mew's relationship with top, he shut him off (though i also see that as him being defensive about his relationship since he knows there's something not quite right about it).

Also, reminder that one of mew's first items on the checklist of his perfect boyfriend was that he gets along with his friends. But top and ray clearly don't get along, and that doesn't seem to matter to mew.

Which is why, next episode, based on the preview, when the topboston drama is revealed (by ray), i think mew is going to feel that much more comfortable throwing away this real, but flawed and exhausting relationship with ray in favour of the facade of perfection with top.

I am so interested in seeing how this gets worse before it gets better... if there is a better. Which i do hope, since i still think there is some genuine affection there from both of them.

Random detail (that I keep focusing on instead of watching OF normally, like those posters and lyrics on the wall in the scene with Sand talking about Ray which speak volumes of Sand's inner mind) post:

When Ray comes to Mew, before apologizing he stares at something and, when Mew calls him out and pushes him to speak, puts it back.

It's invisible, it's out of frame - and I wonder why, because it's Mew's POV? But we can see what Ray was looking at when Mew walks to him and moves it away to sit and eclipse it again for viewers.

It's a group friend photo, the one each of them has in their houses.

And I wonder why this detail was in the script (or the acting), because it seems important - yet it's not seen. Ray knows he fucked up with Mew, Mew rejected his unrequited love once again, once and for all. Yet he comes unannounced to Mew's house (because they both know otherwise Mew wouldn't let him come) and the first thing he does, he goes to look at the friend group photo.

In my opinion, Ray thinks about his friends, but it's very bittersweet. Because even if Mew rejected him, Ray still wants him in his life as a friend (so he puts the frame away and starts apologizing and mending his strained relationship with his closest friend).

But also what if he looks at the group photo and feels this ugly open wound of understanding that he can't call any of those people his true friends? None of them is his true emergency contact. Not even Mew, he just lost him completely as the closest person ("I don't think I'm that important to him anymore").

Yet Ray grabs onto the photo frame and decides it might be the only good thing in his life, and he tries to hold onto his friendships anyway, despite the fact that other three people have their own lovers or friends and the last person Ray could count on also openly told him not to be like that. Not to try to be so close to him anymore. Not to be his emergency contact.

The feeling Ray felt when he stared at their friend group photo, must have been very mixed.

I don't have a profound thought or analysis here, please share your own thoughts why this action by Khao was included -- I just feel the pain of Ray and ouch it hurts x))

Am I the only one that does not really get why everybody in the show is so hung up on the crush Ray has/had on Mew. Boston trying to stirr shit up for Ray by telling Sand, Ray had a crush and kissed Mew two whole ass years agoo?

I get the crush might still be lingering but that does absoluty not mean Ray wants a relationship with him. And that he is not absolutely smitten for Sand at the moment.

Don’t we all have that one crush we haven’t really gotten over?

I also think the reason Ray is attached to Mew is because he is the one that saved him in a attempt and depressive episode. He was there for him when nobody else was.

I loved that Ray let Sand know that he could ask any questions if he had any. Because honestly the truth is less hurtful than anything going on in Sands mind.

He wanted to have the conversation for Sand’s sake but also his own. He knows Sand cares and he cares what Sand thinks because they have come attached to eachother. And Ray does not want Sand to misunderstand.
