What Is Ray Tracing in Gaming?
Ray tracing in gaming is a real-time rendering technique that simulates how light physically interacts with objects in a 3D scene, producing effects like accurate reflections, dynamic shadows, and global illumination that traditional methods cannot replicate. The standard industry term is real-time ray tracing, and it stands apart from offline ray tracing used in film production because it must…

Artificial Intelligence
So, most of the game is now finished. The disappointing thing is that the alien ship was not introduced. I have looked at many versions of AI, however there’s a good deal of things that has to be taken into consideration.
Consider the problem: There is an alien who’s purpose it is to destroy the player’s ship as it’s primary goal and collect any power ups (because that clearly would annoy the player). Meanwhile whilst this is happening, the board is active with asteroids bouncing around and a player ship with fire power.
The obvious answer is to use the ray trace technique. This is where the field of view is taken into considering and the alien ship reacts to that. There is also an opportunity for the alien ship to plot the best path to achieve its primary goal, if the player’s ship falls into view. This was made easier by the ship being a circular vessel, so there is no particular direction, so the ray trace could be focused on the momentum of the vessel or multiple rays are sent out all around at 45º intervals.
I have considered all sorts of ideas, including using minimax, to aid with the path of the vessel.
Regardless as to whether the course assignment is over within the next few days, I will pursue this along with the other areas.
Nurbs modeling!
3rd assignment in Computer animation. Learning the basics of nurbs modeling like using revolve, planar, loft, and learning to use the different CV curve options like linear and 3 degree.... I also did some outside research to figure how to make a believable transparent glass using ray trace shadow and learning more about viewing it in the mental ray. The tutorials provided by autodesk are a HUGE help in this universe that is Maya
