What is an Openbook Market ID?

Raydium.io, one of the most popular DeFi platforms on the Solana network, requires you to create an "Openbook Market ID" to list and trade your token project on the platform. OpenBook is a decentralized and open-source tool of the Serum V3 program on Solana. Creating an Openbook Market ID is mandatory to list on DeFi platforms such as Raydium.io.

0.23 Creating a Market ID in exchange for SOL

The cost of creating a Market ID on Raydium.io is usually around "3 SOL". However, through Openbookgui.com, one of the platforms that supports Openbookv2, you can create a 100% compatible market ID for only 0.23 SOL. With this method, you can create a market ID that is fully compatible with Serum V3 liquidity. You can access the Openbookgui.com website via the following link https://www.openbookgui.com/

Note: On platforms like Dexlab, it is strongly discouraged to try to reduce the fee by changing the "Length" values. This is the wrong approach and can lead to errors in Serum V3 liquidity. Quote Mint: You do not need to change this field, but you can use USDC or USDT if you wish.

CW: This discussion contains mentions of three ships which some people might not be comfortable with (sibling incest and adult/teen relationships). Only their shipnames are mentioned - the nature of these relationships is not discussed in any way. 

Some terminology:

I will refer to the Total Ships as TS and Favorite Ships as FS.

The method I decided to use

So here’s a method, which, albeit less intuitive, is still more accurate.

My boyfriend suggested normalizing the ranks, i.e. making the ranks of both lists proportionally equivalent.

This means that there is no need to manually group anything together and it doesn’t matter if we have two lists of 14 vs 40 ranks or 14 vs 40 000 ranks.

This method still has issues of its own:

not as straightforward to interpret;

ships appear to have fallen in rank even though they didn’t (esp. for Janaya and Ruthari).

This is the formula that we used:

where

r_n is normalized rank;

r is the current rank of a given ship;

R is the lowest possible rank of a list.

So, for example, if we normalize Gremaya’s rank in the FS list, it’ll be:

5 is Gremaya’s current rank in the FS table;

14 is the lowest possible rank for FS.

Just like with a regular rank, the normalized rank is highest when its numerical value is lowest.

This is what we got:

You can see that the very first place (Rayllum) remains the same for both lists, as well as the very last place (everything ranked 100). My boyfriend also suggested adding a color scale - the darker the color, the higher the ship’s rank.

I also colored some of the ships:

light blue means the relative rank of the ship has not changed;

green means the ship has risen in rank;

white means the ship has dropped in rank;

yellow means the ship has massively dropped in rank (by at least 40 points).

I felt that it was important to point out the very huge falls, because many of them nicely correspond with some of my conclusions from the TS results (I’ll get to that in a sec).

I think this is the most intuitive visual representation of how different ships changed in rank:

the red dots are the ranks the ships had on the TS list;

the blue dots are the ranks they have on the FS list.

So that means:

red done above blue? - The ship fell in rank;

red dot only - the rank hasn’t changed;

red dot below blue? - The ship climbed up in rank.

Interestingly enough, only two ships actually improved their position!

It is no surprise that Rayllum remained at rank #1 considering how much this ship is loved by the fans. Janaya and Ruthari didn’t move their position either, but the "weight” of their ranks slightly reduced in a smaller list of options.

Virex, Aarathari and Aaravum are the other ships that retained their position, but I think it’s more of a coincidence than something systematic.

Because the FS list is so much shorter than the TS list, most ships appear to have dropped in position, even if they didn’t (such as Janaya and Ruthari). And that makes the two ships that went up even more interesting!

Sordia went up by 17.8 points and Raydium - by 2.5. Both are small ships with not many voters:

Sordia - 10 TS votes, 6 FS votes;

Raydium - 3 TS votes, 2 FS votes,

yet the voters are pretty consistent - the majority of people who voted for these ships in TS chose them as their favorite ships. Sordia is particularly impressive in this regard, seeing how incredibly loyal its shippers are!

Ships which fell in rank the most

I chose the ships that fell by at least 40 points. The list is arranged from the biggest fall to the smallest:

Sabos fell by 84 points

Harrai fell by 76 points

Laidrin fell by 74 points

Grenvus fell by 51 points

Corpeli fell by 48 points

Kaudia fell by 48 points

Kasren fell by 41 points

We can immediately see that the top three ships were in the top 10 on the Total Ships list and they fell the most. It makes sense when you think about why these ships got so high in the first place. In addition to my vague word choice in the original questionnaire, these ships are either canon (Harrai, Laidrin) or include side characters that are not part of any popular ships (Sabos, Corpeli).

Sabos is especially fascinating, as it’s not only a non-canon ship, it’s a ship involving characters that got their names from fans! They do have a scene together that could be seen as “shippy”, which explains why so many people jumped on that wagon as opposed to, say, Sorcos.

The same goes for Corpeli. Gren and Corvus are canonically friends, but they don’t have any significant scenes together, while Corvus literally holds Opeli’s hand.

Speaking of Grenvus (and also - Kaudia and Kasren), they weren’t as high on the Total Ships list as the aforementioned ships, but all of them seem to have fallen from roughly the middle to the bottom of the list. I guess they just don’t have large fanbases.

Claudia stared into the mirror, trying to get a good glimpse of herself, but having a hard time feeling as though it was her looking back. She was adorned in a white, laced dress that went down to the floor and long white gloves, something she never expected to see herself in. She sighed at the image in the mirror: it wasn’t her. She wore bright eyeshadow and lipstick, contrasting her usual dark aesthetic. She didn’t even recognize her reflection. She suddenly heard a knock on the door, and her brother entered the room without giving her time to protest.

“Claudia, are you almost ready? It’s time to go–” he paused, seeing Claudia’s face. She wasn’t crying per say, but she didn’t look like her normal cheerful, Claudia-like self. “You okay, sis?”

The corners of her mouth upturned faking a smile. “Yeah, I’m perfect.” That’s what she wanted to be able to say with sincerity; this was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. She could tell Soren didn’t buy it. She dropped her facade. “Alright. I’m not fine.”

Soren frowned in confusion. “What’s wrong? I thought you loved him.”

He was right: she did love Callum. But marriage to him was another story. She sat down, momentarily not caring if she wrinkled her dress; she needed some way to calm down. This level of commitment was hard to come to terms with for her, even if she was sure it couldn’t go that badly. It was just… no relationship other than with Soren had gone right in her life, and she was afraid she would somehow mess up this one as well.

Soren sat down next to her, exuding his usual air of overconfidence, with a hint of empathy. “Claudia, I know you’re nervous, and I understand. But I know for a fact that you won’t mess this up; if anything Callum will do that for you.” He snickered, trying to cheer her up in the way he knew how.

Thankfully, he succeeded. Claudia smiled slightly, seemingly gaining back her confidence. She stood up, careful not to catch a glimpse of herself in the mirror, and stepped toward the door. “Okay. I’m ready.”

Callum was nervous as he waited outside for the wedding to start, hoping Claudia hadn’t bailed on him. He wrung his hands together anxiously, a habit that had never succeeded in calming him, but he did nonetheless. He could really use a helping hand.

“Callum? You alright?” He heard a bright, familiar voice from behind him belonging to his best friend.

He looked relieved as he replied. “I’m just a little nervous.”

She chuckled– she hadn’t expected anything less from him. “Don’t be,” she tried to console him, but she still wasn’t very well versed in human interaction like this. “I’m here.” Those few words spilled out of her mouth, and she shut herself up, hoping that they didn’t sound too familiar, that they didn’t give any harbored feeling away.

Luckily, Callum was just as clueless as always. “Thank, Rayla. I think I’m mostly just worried that she’s not alright. I’ll feel better when I see her.”

Rayla felt her heart break in two; out of jealousy or longing, she didn’t know which, but knew the pang in her chest had no platonic explanation. “I’m sure she’ll be beautiful.” As if she ever weren’t. She stopped herself from preemptively imagining Claudia in her dress and her heart sped up even faster than before. “Now, I hope you’re ready. It’s almost time.”

Callum nodded knowingly as Rayla walked away to take her place in the audience, which was even more crowded that he had anticipated. Fortunately, he wasn’t alone for long before he heard his bride from behind him, adorned in the whitest clothes that he agreed didn’t fit her. She was beautiful nonetheless, her beauty shining through the manufactured shell of the white dress, and he felt as though he would collapse. He was entirely smitten.

Soren stepped out from behind her and followed the same route as Rayla did to the crowd, leaving the two alone for a few seconds before they both had to walk down the aisle. They shared a quick kiss that made them both unimaginable euphoric. “Did you have peanut butter for lunch?” Callum asked. He could smell it on her breath. They laughed in unison, and the last of their anxiety faded away. This felt right.

They called Callum away, and Claudia watched from the back as he walked down the aisle, only tripping once. She giggled to herself at the scene until she finally heard the organ start to play; it was her turn now. She made sure not to trip like he had, and gracefully floated along the floor– like an angel, Callum thought, rather than her usual witch-like look– and even the large audience was completely speechless.

Even as the officiant read through his lines, the two of them were too mesmerized by each other to notice. Claudia made a note to look away from her father, pretending he wasn’t even there. Callum, on the other hand, looked at him briefly, catching a glimpse of pride on his face that made him sick. He reminded himself; they weren’t doing this for him, they were doing it for each other.

“Should anyone here present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace.”

The two were broken from their trance as they heard gasps from the crowd: Rayla had stood up, only to immediately sit back down.

‘I won’t do this to them’, she thought, knowing it was selfish to want to break this up. They were happy together, and wasn’t that what she wanted for them anyway? All eyes were still on her, anyway, though. She wished she could go back and never stand up. Head in her hands, she muttered to herself, angry at how irrational she had been.

Callum only blinked, speechless and staring in her direction. Why would she stand up at such a time? He hoped this marriage wasn’t hurting her in some way. Was she worried their marriage would overshadow the friendship she had with both of them? He wanted to talk to her, but the officiant continued his lines, and interrupted his thoughts.

Claudia only smiled. She was afraid that this marriage would make her life stagnant, but in that moment, she realized it was another adventure beginning.
