So I chanced upon this “Mermaid’s Purse” from one of the deep seagrass beds in Puerto Princesa. A “mermaid’s purse” is a leather-like egg case that comes from an egg-laying species of shark or ray. Contrary to popular belief, some sharks do lay eggs.
