“ did i mention i hate you? ” / “ welcome back. are you still breaking hearts? ” / “ it’s kind of hard to outlive your past. ” / “ i’ve never seen anything like you two. always so worried about each other. ” / “ you know what i like about you? you think just like i do. ”
“ did i mention i hate you? ”
“ not today. but i’m sure you have told it to me before enough times to last a lifetime. though i recall deciding to have more honesty in this friendship so now -- what do they say ---- it doesn’t add up. so what is it going to be, dearest friend ? ”
“ welcome back. are you still breaking hearts? ”
“ come now, auden, when have i ever broken hearts ? bones, those i prefer to break instead. ”
“ it’s kind of hard to outlive your past. ”
sitting there without the slightest of movement and covered in blood - his own mixed with many others’ - adrian didn’t even look his best friend’s way, but he didn’t have to anyway. auden understood. he knew him better than anyone else in the world, so adrian didn’t even have to speak, but eventually he did. “ i know. ” broken and lost, there was the shell of the man he once used to be. once again.
“ i’ve never seen anything like you two. always so worried about each other. ”
the words bringing a small smile to his lips, adrian shook his head, images of the flame-haired beauty filling his mind. “ she’s... she’s nothing like i’ve ever known. ” he agreed, giving a nod of his head. “ who would’ve thought there would come a day that it’s not only you who’s capable of getting worried about me. ”
“ you know what i like about you? you think just like i do. ”
“ i just want to go home. ”
