We still don't know who's Betty's emotional anchor, do you have any theories ? (I'd love to assume it's Jughead, but it would be weird considering all the traumatic things w/ TBK, the black hood, Polly etc...)

Hello, lovely! First of all, your English is great. No worries there. 😊

Do I have theories? I can’t say that I do. I haven’t watched any episodes since 5x05 (I think 🤔) so my knowledge of what’s going on now all comes from posts I see on tumblr. That said, I’m not sure who else but Jughead could fill that emotional anchor role for Betty. It certainly isn’t Alice. Polly is a possibility, I guess, since they had to have been close at some point. I honestly don’t know. I’m hoping for Jughead, though, based almost entirely on this gif:

Just so we’re clear I don’t think Jabitha is getting Hey #3 (and I don’t really want it for them anyway), but I cannot tell you how hard I am going to laugh if it goes to Frank/Alice. Like after an entire summer of speculation it goes to a pairing that gets together 5 minutes before their duet. How fucking Riverdale of them would it be???

Do you think bh will get back together after betty and Tabitha find him or still Will Take time to get back together

you know, knowing what we know by the end of 5x10 and knowing that riverdale moves faster than any other show, i want to say that i wouldn’t surprised if something happens by 5x15 or 5x16. not that they’ll necessarily be together together but something is going to have to be a catalyst. 

wait, i’m about to ramble, sorry.

like, we have facts that are still loose plot threads: 

jughead wrote their story in a book

she knows he published a book (we don’t know if she’s read it) 

b/a really was the “exploration of nothingness” which, to me, signals it might be treated as a much smaller conflict than we previously thought since jughead doesn’t seem to know yet (or if he does and doesn’t care, the audience doesn’t know yet)

it seems like no one, including jughead, knows betty was kidnapped and tortured 

the voicemail™

the only person who seems to know that he’s not over betty is tabitha 

tabitha and betty will work together soon 

jughead is missing (also his trauma—something definitely happened in new york it seems? the mothmen, etc)

betty is still having nightmares and the tbk is still out there. polly and the other girls are still an unsolved thing

we only have betty’s perspective on archie, the serial killer, and her own fears/guilt. we have no idea what she’s been shoving down for the last 7 years but we do know she’s not willing to emotionally connect to anyone (that seems important)

jughead and betty haven’t talked about any of this while in riverdale 

so, all of this needs to come up and i know it’s riverdale but they’ve been better than expected at connecting plot threads and not dropping them as much lately. i think 5b is probably going to be bughead heavy, especially once you add in the mysteries. i think, with them, getting them into near death situations always opens their mouths faster than anything else so i wouldn’t be surprised if we see some traction once the real drama of the season starts to happen. 

i obviously don’t know what’s going to happen but i can see one or both of them hesitant to open themselves up until something makes them realize they really do want to be together. double points to riverdale if they do a bughead fwb but do it the exact opposite of b/archie (casual affection, concern, actual conversations) because that would be hilarious to me personally.

What about Tabs and Sweets dating? I think they'd be a cool couple. I always thought Sweets and Jug had that brotherly thing. It might help Sweets remember Jug really isn't a bad guy and that Sweets can be as over the top and dramatic as Jug!

The funniest thing about anons being upset that people are multi-shipping is thinking the writers have the capacity to allow any of us to have a 4+ episode streak of a satisfying and healthy relationship (again) until their last rattling pointlessly dramatic breaths.

Okay I had a thought. And yes this is just all speculation but I like to do this.

What if Jughead is writing his new book and it is about a girl that one character used to be in love with but now she is with his best friend. (Hits close to home for Jughead I know) And he is writing the shower sex scene but he keeps imagining in his head that it is Archie and Betty instead of his characters. 

Then they cut to that scene that was in the trailer that showed Jughead screaming and hitting his typewriter. 

I know this probably isn’t even close to what happens. I am probably way off.

Riverdale writers are really really bad, I mean, it’s been years and seasons passed and the only thing they played around/centered is still “ships.”

They can’t write proper mystery and always force b/a, write female characters with very objective angles.

To be honest, CSI did better job on writing relationships, don’t get me wrong I love CSI, I just want to point out it’s a show use a lot screen time on crime scenes and lab, but sill managed to give characters storylines, no matter they are romantic, family, friend or business relationships.
