"yeah, new austin, the last real outlaw country. where the old ways still hold true. you do a man wrong, he'll shoot you for it. you do a man right...well, he still may shoot you for it."
- john marston // red dead redemption
Dakota River Snake Trail (1/?)
One of my most frequently visited trails, this trail tests your maneuverability as well as your horse’s confidence. Starting west of Six Point Cabin, you’ll encounter steep and windy trails that lead down to the Dakota River, a fordable yet deep pass. Coming back around, you’ll need to cross three rope bridges suspended high above the raging waters below, each increasing in height as you go. Should you make it to the end without any mishaps, give your brave steed a pat and get yourself a whiskey down at Smithfield’s.
photomode on console is great 📷
Pike’s Basin Trail (3/?)
One of my favorites from Red Dead Redemption, this trail takes you through Pike’s Basin and spits you out into the hot New Austin sun. Starting outside of MacFarlane’s Ranch, you’ll make your way down into the basin. Following the winding trails to the end of the canyon, if you don’t get lost, you’ll find yourself surrounded by cacti and antelope. At sunset you’ll be greeted with some gorgeous scenery.
The desert can be unforgivable. Make sure to stay hydrated! Stop by Armadillo Saloon and get a drink if you’re not too concerned about the cholera.
