#40: Making a goofy face until they notice and laugh

You take a sip of wine and try not zone out. The woman seated to your right is talking about a trip she took recently and you're trying to pay attention. Judging by her tone, you think it went well, but you’re not sure. You stopped listening to her words a few minutes ago. Instead, you watch how the light reflects off her earrings as she continues her elaborate explanation. Hopefully your reactions are convincing enough.

You weren’t in the mood for a stuffy event tonight.

First, there was the hour of standing around in an extravagant reception hall as an endless stream of businessmen tried to introduce themselves to your husband. After the first few, all the names and occupations blurred together till you couldn’t tell one from the other.

The entertainment for tonight is a small band playing classical music. Your hosts were probably trying to set a mood for the night, but with the amount of alcohol going around, you doubt the guests will stay subdued for long.

When it was finally announced that guests will be seated for dinner, your mood picked up. Surely, the food would make you feel better about coming. That was until you realized that dinner was comprised of a neverending number of infuriatingly small portions of food. It’s French, someone informs you. It’s unsatisfying and pretentious, the petty voice in your brain retorts.

You’ve learned how to keep up appearances at times like this, though. Over the years, you’ve had more than enough practice. You nod and feign interest as each new course is served. Truth be told, you can’t taste enough in one bite to distinguish one dish from the next.

Jumin sits across from you, listening to a man who’s gesturing energetically with his hands as he speaks. It’s amusing to see how excited he is to be holding Jumin’s attention.

With the woman finally having finished her story, you’re free to watch him. Articles in the tabloids describe him as professional and aloof, so different from the man you know and love. This is the only time you catch a glimpse of that side of him.

You wonder what it would be like to break that perfect façade of his, just for a second. You need to find some way to entertain yourself tonight, after all. As he takes a sip from his own glass of wine, his eyes meet yours and he raises his eyebrows. You can tell by the weariness in his eyes that he's as tired as you are.

While he’s still looking at you, you pull a face of exaggerated boredom, rolling your eyes and puffing out your cheeks. Your face is back to normal before anyone else can notice, but his eyes widen in surprise. He chokes out a small laugh that he unsuccessfully tries to mask as a cough. In fact, trying to stop it only seems to make him laugh more. Success.

He apologetically excuses himself to the bathroom to compose himself. Luckily, everyone is quickly distracted by dessert being served. Before he's out of sight, he shoots you a look that says you’ll pay for this later.

You don’t bother hiding your smile. Finally, something to look forward to.

Well, I did say that I would be writing more family-themed blurbs and I did finish a Jumin one before I went to bed. So, here you go Jumin fans, something that is a bit happier in nature. Reader is Gender Neutral, as always. 

Jumin found it hard to believe that his life had changed so much in the span of a couple of years from what he had always known it to be. 

There had once been a time when he was alone and he was often plagued with the feeling of isolation that he burned away by drinking another glass and sharing his thoughts with Elizabeth the 3rd; Never once did he think that his life would forever be changed when you appeared in his world.

But, it had.

And, he knew that for a fact when he awoke in the morning every day now. His eyes resting on the ceiling before he turned over to see you, curled up at his side with your son sprawled out next to you, a likely case of him crawling into the room late at night after he awoke from a nightmare.

You often coddled him, humming and fretting over his needs in a way that Jumin had never seen before. 

He hadn’t grown up like that.. not at all. His own mother was never around and everyone expected him to act like a grown-up well before his time. He had been rather mature for his age but it was… a wonder to see the world from his son’s perspective. 

So different than what he knew. 

His son was far more open with his emotions. Receptive, too. A little empath in the making as he often chattered with Elizabeth with a smile on his face. You were always there to push him in the right direction when he felt unsure of what to do, and it helped him become… softer, really, much more open to change.

It brought about a realization in him that he may not have had the perfect childhood, and gave him the chance to open up to you more about it, and in turn, it allowed him to gain a better view of what a family was supposed to be like. Supportive, compassionate, and every bit kind in every possible way.

You were his rock, and you had given him everything that he had ever imagined and more. Seeing you there with him, he couldn’t help but lean and press his lips against yours as you started to rise from your slumber, happy for the day to begin.

I decided to rewrite it but this was much pretty done, so I thought I might as well finish it.

You meet during a wine tasting.

You really love cats and so you come to share stories about your cat with Jumin.

You get him to follow your tripter account and share all the cat pics with him.

You both meet here and there at business parties, you don't care who he is at all.

You become cat picture buddies and you even reach Jumin how to make cat videos *and the RFA chat breaks because of it*

You just really enjoy spending time with him.

You usually live in a different country what makes things a bit difficult.

Jumin sometimes just forgets what time zone you are in and calls you, because he somehow missed your voice, at like 2am.

You don't really mind since you enjoy talking to him when you can.

Actually, you really start to look forward to your next meeting, but it's month until then.

At first, you don't really know it but you slowly fall for Jumin.

You are really happy when you see him again.

“Jumin, it's been so long. How is Elizabeth the 3rd and how are you?”

“She lost a bit weight lately I'm kinda worried.”

“How much weight is it?”

“Like 0,15 pounds.”

“Have you talked with a veterinarian about it?”

“I did but everything is alright with her.”

“Maybe she just ran around a lot?”

“Maybe but it seems really unusual.”

“Maybe she wants something new to eat?”

“She always was a bit picky about her meals.”

“Oh there is this commercial for cat food right now, maybe she saw that and now wants to eat that?”

“It is possible. I should look into it. I'm glad I came to you with this. Other people would just make fun of me.”

“You know how much I care about cats and about you. So it's only natural.”

“You are so kind, it's quite a shame we barely get to see each other.”

“I feel the same way. I will be in town for a while so how about we have a coffee or something?”

“Sounds good but how about a dinner instead? I'd like you to meet Elizabeth the 3rd in person.”

“That sounds like a great idea. A great chance to get to know you better and the lovely Elizabeth the 3rd.”

“I'm sure that she will be really happy to meet you.”

“When should we meet then?”

“I think we should just go right now.”

“Would that be okay? I thought you have some big fish to catch here.”

“I don't really care. I much rather go back home, especially now were you agreed on coming.”

“It's fine with me, the party is kinda dull anyways.”

“Yeah, that's very true. Let's go then.”

You go together with Jumin to his penthouse.

You greet the cat right away but she seems really healthy.

“What a beauty. She looks completely fine. Why did you lose weight Elizabeth the 3rd?’

She meows happily and you pet her.

“Seems like she likes you.”

“Maybe she just doesn't want to eat alone?”

“I have to admit that I was really busy lately. I'm sorry Elizabeth the 3rd. I will spend more time with you.”

“I'm sure she will be really happy about that. You have to keep me updated though.”

“Of course. I know you really care for her.”

“Oh, can I take a picture with her?”

“You should ask her but I don't mind.”

“I just figured it would be right to get your permission. So you want to take a picture with me?”

You ask the cat and she doesn't disagree.

You happily take pictures.

“She is such a lovely cat. You are truly blessed.”

“Thank you. Can I get copies of the pictures too? You both look really good together.”

“Sure. Do you want to take a picture together too?”

“A picture of us... sure I wouldn't mind.”

“Great come here.”

Before you can take the picture Elizabeth runs away.

“Seems like we overdid it.”

“I guess she needs a break but we still could take a picture, Jumin.”

“A picture of us together?”

“I mean only if you want to.”

“I really not mind it but would you really want that?”

“I really don't see why not. I would really like that actually.”

“Alright then let's take one.”

“Nice, let's add a cat ear filter. I'm sure that will look super cute on you.”

“I have doubts about that but I'm interested regardless.”

You get really close to him, you don't really realize it until you see the picture. It kinda makes you blush.

Jumin checks the picture and he seems really happy with it.

“I'm really glad I came here. I feel like I finally meet the real Jumin in person.”

“The real me…. That's kinda interesting. I don't think anyone would be interested in that.”

“I'm really interested in you Jumin. You are a really kind and caring man.”

“I'd like to know how you came to that conclusion and you should be careful how you word thinks.I might get the wrong idea.”

“I have seen how you care for Elizabeth and I don't think you get the wrong idea at all.”

“So when you say that you are interested in me you mean?”

“I mean that I really like you a lot and that I'd like to get to know you better. Why else would I come into a man's house?”

“I thought you might be just interested in Elizabeth the 3rd.”

“I really like her too but not in the same way that I like you.”

Jumin seems to think for a moment.

“I ever thought I’m the only one that feels that way. I never thought that you feel like I do.”

“It's really good that we have dinner then. I feel like we have a lot to talk about.”

in which someone needs to open up

Silence isn’t the answer. MC should know that by now. But sometimes it felt like Jumin was far away. Maybe he was? 

Someone needed to say something. Someone need to open up.

MC loved her husband.

   But sometimes he could be too much.

   Sometimes he could be too little.

   Today was the type of day when dinner was on the table but words weren’t spoken. They ate quietly.

   “MC?” Jumin asked, breaking the silence.

   “Hmm?” MC responded quizzically. They sat on either side of the table with overrated food. Sometimes MC just wanted to have pizza and watch movies illegally. That’s what Seven was for. Sometimes MC just wanted to watch someone play video games and say ‘ouch’ even though they aren’t physically hurt. That’s what Yoosung was for. Sometimes MC wanted someone to give her lots of attention. That’s what Zen was for. Sometimes MC wanted someone to fangirl with at an aesthetically pleasing cafe. That’s what Jaehee is for.

   Sometimes MC didn’t want presents to distract her.

   “MC?”

   “Sorry what?”

   Jumin sighed and rested his elbow on the table, “Are you taking advantage of my generosity?”. It took a second for MC to process the meaning behind what he had just said. Jumin noticed the confusion and discomfort in her expression and quickly retracted his statement.  

   Silence.

   MC doesn’t think she can stay here any longer.

   Too confined.

   Too lonely.

   Too grand.

   “Um...Jumin?” she asked hesitantly, twirling her fork. Jumin looked up again, staring at her with his dark eyes.

   He gave her a soft smile and urged her to continue.

   “I think I’m gonna stay at Yoosung’s this weekend so someone is going to have to feed Elizabeth,”  MC said, not really knowing if Yoosung was free. She had made this up on the spot.

   Jumin looks at her furrowing his eyebrows. He takes a second before continuing to eat with no response.

   Of course he doesn’t care, MC though. She was nervous for no reason. Everything was going to be okay. She was going to make pillow forts with Yoosung and draw stars on his arm and it’s going to be fine. Everything is going to be fine.

   She poked her steak with her fork, brushing off the excess seasoning. Too salty... “Are you not hungry?” Jumin inquired, “I hope you haven’t been skipping meals”.

   Suddenly, as if her body moved on it’s own, MC dropped her fork and stood up. The chair made a loud screech.

“Uh, sorry...I just-”

   “Why do you confid to other RFA members rather than your own husband?” he asked abruptly, standing up to match her. That wasn’t something MC was expecting. MC then starts to walk away from the table, ignoring his comment, and Jumin follows her. “Tell me MC, tell me why you accept my presents but spend no time with me”.

   MC’s footsteps get heavier. She continues to walk towards the door and shouts, “Don’t act as if I like your gift because trust me, I don’t want all this priceless jewelry”. Jumin then mutters something under his breath as she wraps her hand around the doorknob.

   “If you have something to say than say it”

   “After everything I do, you decide to go sleep at some other boy’s house”

   If this was a cartoon, steam would be coming out of MC’s ears. She whipped her body around to face him. Her head was lifted to make eye contact. “Don’t try to guilt me for spending time with my friends. At least I feel important to them!” MC raised her voice.

“You can’t actually think that-”

“OH, I DO!”

   Jumin’s fist retracted and MC flinched. When Jumin froze MC looked back up to him and whisper, “Do it, I dare you” and then she walked out the door.

   Jumin dropped his hand and watched the door slam on his face. He looked down at his feet. It wasn’t even all his fault. It was true that he’s been busy but MC hadn’t told him anything. She didn’t say how the excess gifts made her uncomfortable. She didn’t say anything. “Wait MC!” Jumin shouted while opening the door. He ran towards her but MC didn’t stop.

   Jumin wrapped his arms around her shoulder and MC let out a gasp. “Don’t leave”

   “Don’t tell me what to do”

   “I won’t hurt you”

   MC dropped her head. She’s angry but Jumin was manipulative. He could convince anyone and with that soft and desperate voice, she could never win. He breathed in her ear. “I can be more open and you can be more open and we can have fun” Jumin whispered while nuzzling in her ear.

   “...I can be more open” MC muttered, feeling his hair brush against her cheeks. The tip of her ears were pink as cherry blossoms.

   “Want to come home?” her back pressed against his broad chest.

   “You’ll need to be a little more convincing” MC let out a smirk.

   Jumin smiled. Although MC’s ears were pink, nothing could match the blush that was painting his cheek. He began to kiss up her neck. He was so in love with this girl. MC was going to be the death of him.

“Let’s watch movies and eat popcorn”

Jumin brushed his lips against her cheek and she let out a squeak. MC coughed, trying to play it off.

“Very convincing”

A young Jumin finds another child lost in his neighborhood.

Jumin stepped outside from his family’s home, his father worriedly wrapping the coat around him once more. “It’s rather chilly Jumin, I don’t want you catching a cold.” 

He was just a child, yet still an odd coldness and distance beginning to grow around him.

He nodded faintly, tilting his head up to face his father.

“Be back before sundown, okay?” 

“Yes, sir.” He buttoned his coat, the wool gnawing at his skin. 

“You promise?”

“I promise.” 

“Okay, be good.” 

His father gave a brief wave before closing the door behind him, Jumin walking about aimlessly. 

There hadn’t been much to do with V off with family and such, but it provided a sense of stability and peace that he often didn’t find at home. 

Yet he’d be lying to say that the loneliness didn’t bother him.

However, that quickly changed as he caught sight of someone just across the street, calling out timidly.

It was you.

Had he known it was you then, he would’ve rushed over as if his life depended on it.

But he merely stared, curious until you eventually shifted your gaze to him.

Your eyes widened to the size of saucers, gasping. “Hi! Can you help me?”

You rushed forward, the bottoms of your boots scraping against the slick street. 

“Hello?” You softened your tone, frowning. “Can you help me?” 

“With what?” He asked, stone-faced.

“I’m...I’m lost.” You fiddled with your fingers, the knuckles paler with the winter air. 

“Where did you last see your mother? Are you from here?” 

“Um...no. My mother and I were just taking a walk here...and we got separated.” You sniffled, scrunching up your nose. “I don’t really know where she went.” 

“And you want me to help you...?” He tipped his head a bit perplexed. 

“Yes, if you’re o-okay with t-that.” You murmured, giving a pleading expression. “I-I’ll leave you alone after that-I’m just...scared.” 

A pang of guilt smacked him at your words, a small sigh slipping from his lips. “No, no it’s fine. I’ll help.” 

He removed his gloves, giving them to you. “Try to stay warm. I don’t really know how long we may be out here searching.” 

“Y-You don’t think m-my mom forgot about m-me did she?” 

“I wouldn’t think so.” He shook his head. “I’m sure it was just an accident.” 

“T-Thank you...” You tried to come up with his name, looking up as you found you never learned it. 

“Jumin. My name is Jumin Han.” 

“I’m MC. Nice to meet you!” You smiled warmly reaching out with your hand to shake his. 

He returned the gesture, furrowing his brow. “So um...where did you last see your mom?”

“Over there.” You pointed at the far end of the neighborhood, the trees twisting about one another to almost form a roof of sorts. 

“Alright, just-stay close.” He said, beginning to trudge forward.

You linked your arm with his, Jumin’s breath hitching as his face suddenly switched to pink.

“Buddy system!” You exclaimed, cracking a small grin. “My teachers say it’s always a good way to not get lost!” 

“Y-Yes I-I guess it is.” He swallowed hard, trying to steady his own rapid heartbeat. 

“Don’t you have a buddy?” 

You began to walk, the ice somehow seeming more slippery than ever. 

“Do you mean a friend?”

“Yeah!” 

“I do have one. His name is V.”

“Where is he?”

“Off with family. Other than that I don’t really have anyone else.” 

“You’ve got me!” You cried, almost bouncing with your next step. “Once a buddy, always a buddy.” 

“What...?”

“We’re friends silly!” 

“We are?” 

“Of course!” You took his hand and gave a small squeeze. 

“Of course...” He repeated the phrase, a small smile tugging at his lips for the first time in what felt like centuries. “I like that.” 

“The saying or the fact that we’re friends?”

“Both.” 

You grinned, the two of you continuing to chatter here and there until you approached the end of the street, beginning to yell out.

“Mom!” You yelped. “Mom!” 

“Hello?” He called, raising his voice by the moment. “Hello?”

Silence.

Nothing was returned, eventually, the two of you sitting down on the sidewalk.

“Did she leave...?” You whimpered, sinking back. 

“No, I’m sure she didn’t.” Jumin attempted to comfort you, wrapping an arm around you. “Maybe she’s just lost too.” 

“Right...right okay.” You looked up to him, wiping at the small tears brimming at your eyes. “Thank you Jumin.” 

“Oh...you’re welcome.” 

“I don’t know why you don’t have too many friends. You’re pretty neat to me.” 

“You think so?” 

“Absolutely.” 

He opened his mouth to speak, yet before he could respond another voice bounced outwards excitedly. 

“MC? Honey?” A voice erupted out, an older woman racing outwards, clinging to her coat. “MC?” 

The woman sprinted forward, ducking down and wrapping you in her arms. “Oh, sweetheart I’m so glad you’re okay!” 

You let out a small squeak of excitement, clinging to your mother. 

Your mother leaned back, examining Jumin. “Who’s this?”

“My new friend Jumin! He helped me find you!” 

“Was that your voice I heard with MC?” She asked, raising a brow.

He nodded, unable to come up with any proper response. 

“Thank you Jumin.” She patted his shoulder, smirking. “Be sure to tell your family what a little hero you are.”

“Y-Yes ma’am.” 

He watched as the two of you left, a small sadness growing in his chest at the idea of you leaving yet a warmth bloomed as you turned back.

“Bye buddy!” 

He gave a small wave, a crooked grin tugging up. 

“Goodbye.” 

And even as the years passed, he never forgot your bright and gentle words.

And when you happened to accidentally stumble into the RFA messenger, he knew he met again with the same person who he found lost.

Yet this time, you were the one to find him.

And you were what he had always been searching for.

Se acerca un mes completa y absolutamente infernal, y por ello, necesitaba un desahogo rápido.

Era la primera vez que sentía aquello por alguien.

¿Cómo llamarlo? ¿Instinto? ¿Atracción?

Las definiciones se quedaban cortas para expresarlo, las palabras no bastan cuando la piel se eriza. Cada vez que él está cerca.

¿Alguna vez te ha pasado? 

Una sensación arrolladora, incontenible, que te sobrepasa al ver a otro individuo. Una especie de déjà vu sin pasado ni retorno. Un hilo rojo invisible que arde ante esa mirada de acero.

Acero templado, claro.

Al menos cuando ella andaba cerca, cuando le acariciaba el pelo, cuando le besaba la palma de la mano.

Cuando podía verla desnuda, a su merced. 

O, por qué no, en aquél mismo instante, con una mano a escasos centímetros del picaporte, testaruda y desobediente, negándose a dejarla escapar.

- Jumin ¿puedes abrir la puerta o hace falta que llame al señor Kim?

Ella a su espalda, a medio camino entre la mofa y la inocencia.

- ¿Por qué no abres tú?

- ¿Y por qué debería hacerlo?

- ¿Y por qué no?

- Estás muy raro - con paso decidido tomó la decisión por ambos, abriendo la puerta de la discordia.

Para que él la volviera a cerrar, apoyando una mano y dejándose caer por su propio peso. Con la otra, la cogió de la barbilla, obligándole a girar el rostro, a abrir paso a la lengua de él.

No la dejó darse la vuelta mientras le subía la falda a la altura de la cintura. Tampoco cuando se abrió paso entre los botones de su camisa, acariciándola, tentándola a la par que le apartaba el pelo para lamerle la nuca.

Lo cierto es que ella no protestó. Quizás fuera cosa de que él no dejara de besarla. Quizás la humedad entre sus piernas fue consentimiento suficiente, o el hecho de que no dejara de susurrar su nombre, mordiéndose unos labios cada vez más rojos. Coral encendido.

El sonido de la hebilla al ceder cumplió un deseo no formulado.

El susurro de unos pantalones desabrochados anunciaba el fin de la espera.

Ella de espaldas, sus manos contra la puerta, la espalda arqueada.

Él anhelante, sujetándola.

Un azote. 

Una protesta que muta en gemido.

Certero, rápido. 

Tan húmeda.

La cadencia de sus embestidas era voraz, agotadora, pero se aseguraba de sostenerla, a la par que le tapaba la boca. Ella le mordía los dedos, él dejó varias marcas en su espalda. Ambos intentaban moverse al unísono, pero también a destiempo.

Un nuevo azote. Morder más fuerte.

Hasta que ella se deja llevar, y él la sigue sin demora.

La besa y la cuida. La admira como quien descubre que el mármol se ha vuelto carne.

- Buena chica.

La ayuda a abrocharse la camisa, a domar aquella melena descuidada. 

Y, sinceramente, si por él hubiera sido, la habría sacado de aquella oficina en volandas.

Uncertainty

Word Count: 754 Words Characters: Reader x Jumin Ask: Can I request a scenario or fic where mc is on Jumin's route and is at his penthouse to comfort him but she's shown no signs of romantic interest in him and for all he knows it's platonic, but V visits Jumin earlier about it and stays at his penthouse for a bit of a while and mc and V chat quite a lot and bond and Jumin just doesn't know how to feel about it but turns out V is getting mc to open up a bit nore about love and the idea of jumin and her together since she kept it to herself till now Header notes: I hope you enjoy this!

“Love” Jumin had problems interpreting this simple abstract concept. What did it mean to be in love? Did it mean that you wanted to financially support them? Or was it something more emotion based? Something that he couldn’t exactly grasp? He thought about this for extended periods of time but in the end he still couldn’t understand what the clench on his heart was when he saw you across from V, talking in hushed tones.

You came over to Jumin’s place of residence to comfort him while he dealt with the problems within his family. You would stay for as long as you needed to because seeing Jumin lose his rational thinking process hurt. He needed someone to confide too, not a kitten but someone. That’s where you came in.

He knew you came as a member of RFA, concerned about the health of another member. This is how he accepted the situation and continuously told himself this. “You came as a member.” However seeing you talk with V over on the couches while he sat at the kitchen, he couldn’t completely explain what he was feeling. He saw you laugh, blush and smile all in a matter of seconds and Jumin couldn’t take his eyes away from you. In this dark time of his life, you seemed like a warm light that gave him comfort but right now, you seemed further than you had ever been. He rolled his hands into fists and tried to find something to distract himself with but he always found his gaze wandering back towards you.

It surprised you when V came through the front door, you saw on the messenger that he was going to be away however before you knew it, he was knocking at the door. He stayed around for a couple days, catching up with Jumin and giving advice on the situation at hand but one day, he told you that he wished to talk to you. It frightened you to think what he would want to talk about, perhaps was he asking you to distance yourself from Jumin? Or even asking you to leave the RFA all together? To you, V was still a man of mystery despite him being right in front of you. He shooed Jumin away as he sat across from you on the couches, putting his hands together and sending you a smile. “What do you think of Jumin?” he asked you first, seeming to hit you right in the face. It was straightforward for a first question and it caught you off guard. He chuckled a bit and apologised,”Sorry, I meant, what’s your relationship with him?” You explained how you were just someone who talked to Jumin over the messenger and wanted to comfort him when he would otherwise be alone. “How do you feel about him?” V smiled as he continued to interrogated you. This was when your face was flushed red. At first you hesitated to tell the man about your thoughts however something about his face told you that you could.

You began to explain what you thought about Jumin and what you felt about him and afterwards it was obvious to the both of you what was happening. V and you made eye contact after your speech and a split second later the two of you burst into laughter. “With Jumin....” V started after the laughter died down,”He’s dense, extremely dense.” You smiled in agreement. “You have to tell him things like this,” he continued,”Or else he’ll never get it. He’ll be stuck in his little world forever.” You nodded continuously, finding merit in V’s words, truly demonstrated that he was Jumin’s childhood friend. Suddenly the thought of you and Jumin together as a couple appeared in your mind and your face went red. V laughed, seeming to guess what had happened before Jumin pushed himself into the picture and sat himself down right by your side. A blank look rested on his face as he stared at V, seeming to have a silent conversation with him. V started to chuckle and stood up from his seat, saying only two words before he left the penthouse.

To you, the words may not have made sense but to Jumin is answered questions he had been repeating in his head.
