Today's Walking Photo: Dammit, no walk today, but here’s a fun Driving Photo from the other day. What is it the Boy Scouts say?
Don’t worry, I mreged successfully.
Today's Walking Photo: Okay yeah I have no idea what the hell’s going on there this Saturday night.
Today's Walking Photo: k
Today's Walking Photos: “Oh great!” I can hear you saying. “More photos from some cheesy gig you played!” And you wouldn’t be wrong, really, except for the “cheesy” part. The Rae Gordon Band played at a plaza in the heart of Newberg, a small town about 45 minutes from Portland; the free show was part of a summer music program called Tunes On Tuesday. It was very well attended, the attendees were very appreciative of the music, and I got to enjoy some ridiculously good mango ice cream. Man, was that delicious.
Lest you think my musician life is full of glamour and luxurious perks, the middle photo shows you the “green room” where the band hung out before we played and during our break between sets. I didn’t notice that ping pong table until I was looking at the photo just now! Cripes, missed opportunity!
Today's Walking Photo: ………noted.
And considered.
Today's Walking Photo: Man, I really love the churny, unsettled skies above this readerboard. Change is definitely in the air and it’s making people uncomfortable…but then I’d say a little discomfort is an entirely appropriate thing in light of what’s been going on for far too long, with no path to change. I love seeing this local church come out publicly in support of student-led efforts to draw attention to this urgent issue and push for discussion and action. Given the misguided backlash (clearly fear-driven) from people who seek to minimize the students’ voices, it’s important that trusted institutions like churches make it clear where they stand. While they’d never admit it, some are pretty worried about what these smart, motivated young people might manage to accomplish – and they should be. They seem to have no idea how plainly their words and actions telegraph their fear. And that’s fine; I like knowing who they are.
For myself, these kids bring a hope that I haven’t felt in a while. I hate that the burden of change falls upon them, but they do seem up to the challenge.
Today's Walking Photo: After giving it a lot of thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that this gas station readerboard has simply given up and decided to advertise the complete collapse of civilization.
