I think there is a certain letdown when you meet a friend who you get so excited about because you both love to read. Yay!!
Until you realize that what you read is wiiiiiildy different than what they read.

Reading Slumps?
Your friendly, never regularly posting BookBud here, how do you guys pull yourself out of reading slumps? I need guidance, and this is the group I trust.
I’ve been a little dead on here over the summer due to a major reading slump I got into. That reading slump made it so that I ended up not getting to a lot of the books I was excited to read over the summer. I’ve been super bummed about that. Then I came across a post on instagram where someone had a picture of the pile of books they didn’t get to during the summer. I loved how they were having fun with it instead of dwelling on all the books they didn’t get to. I think many people see it as a “failure” when they don’t reach their reading goals, and I’m definitely one of those people, but I’m gonna try harder not to stress about it so much and just be excited to get to them at another time. To start this process I thought it would be fun to make my own post of the books I didn’t get to as a way to get back into blogging and to turn something I’ve been viewing as a negative into a positive!
So I present to you the stack of books I didn’t get to over the summer!
What books did you not get to this summer that you’re looking forward to reading at a later time?
Dangerous Reading Slumps
Crawling out of a reading slump--getting my nails dirty with the letters unread and the sentences unfinished--is messy work. But if we don’t try to dig ourselves out of these metaphors that fail to stick with us; if we don’t try to overcome the mountains of characters that we encounter while trying to leave this cage made of our own hesitations, then how will we read all of the books we want to read?
The poor books on my shelves will sometimes watch me struggle--fearing that in my haste to find the next read to pull me out of this fog, I will set them aside and never pick them up again.
But these are the dangers of Reading Slumps.
I hate when I start binging a series that I'm enjoying and suddenly I get in a reading slump. I'm still thinking about Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass series. I read Assassin's Blade, Throne of Glass, and Crown of Midnight so fast. For some reason, I am having a hard time getting into Heir of Fire. Alas, I have a lot of downtime at work, so I can surely get back into it this week. :)
Me coming out of the longest reading slump ever and finally able to continue on with my doctor who-vna reads:
I haven’t been able to focus enough to read since the pandemic started (that good good stress response) but thanks to your buddy read, I was inspired to crush 200 pages of Uprooted last night before bed. Thank you for reminding me how much the story means to me! 💜
I’m so sorry you’ve been in that slump! This pandemic has just been one ginormous shit show that is affecting us all differently. Personally I’ve probably been reading and watching things more because of all the free time now and because distractions are how I cope with stress. I’m glad that you’ve been able to read again! Thank @logarithmicpanda for setting it up! I’m reading this book for the first time and it’s nice to share that experience with other people.
“If you love books so much - why is it I never see you reading?”
