hc + vincent
when vincent was born, logan wasn’t ignorant to the way father would fawn over him. at first he reasoned that is was for his youth, logan being marginally older than the other. but it changed after their father sat him down and explained to him how ‘ special ‘ vincent was. ( he’s different. special. he’ll do great things when he’s older, logan. you need to keep a close eye on him. make sure he doesn’t get hurt. he can protect himself when he’s ready. for now, i’m trusting you to watch over your younger brother. )yet, while he watched vincent grow up, there was elements of jealousy and spite that seeped into his actions, his thoughts. father spent the majority of the day on the throne, yes, but that didn’t mean he had no time for his children. for logan, however, it seemed as if he were nothing. vincent was the one with the attention, the one with father bending knee and ruffling hair. he could remember when father had done the same to him, and his body grew cold with lack of warmth. that envy rose within him and never truly left, still settling in his bones even when he were a man and vincent on his way.as king, he constantly sent vincent to his rooms, either to protect him from the decisions the throne had forced him to make or to keep him from seeing the true reality of the world. ‘ the throne room is no place for a child. ‘ there was still spite echoing in his actions, however. he kept vincent locked up because he felt like he owed him that much, as if he could take away from his youth just as vincent had done. it was done with malicious intent, though it was incredibly subconsciously put forth. it was an underlying motivator to destroy vincent’s youthful years as retaliation? to be honest logan is not a nice man, even if it was done as something he wasn’t fully aware of ( covering it up by saying it was to ‘ protect him. ‘ ) the only person who ever truly noticed was father’s friend walter, and even then logan would cast his opinion aside and question his loyalty to the crown, the undertone in his words suggesting treason. logan made sure no one questioned his authority something that pressed heavily onto his outward appearance as tyrant, even to vincent as he grew older.

the hart huffs, massive head bobbing as she bounces on two hooves. her rider doesn’t much seem to mind, but he’s sat on the rock beside her, at the moment, rather than in her saddle.
❛ don’t worry, it means she likes you. probably. either that, or she’s about to gorge you on her antlers. i can never remember which. ❜
