Soundlessly, Anakin crawls under the covers next to Obi-wan and tries to fall asleep.
Obi-Wan can’t figure out what’s woken him. The hum of the Negotiator’s engines - more felt than heard with the distance between them and his quarters - is familiar and steady beneath his head, his comm and the corridor outside are both silent, the darkness unbroken. He reaches blearily for the Force for answers, sensing Anakin’s presence beside him, the quiet industriousness of the men on shift, the usual mixture of sleepy/playful/sorrow/hungry/yearning/joy of those off, all is right, and... While good to know, it doesn’t actually tell him what woke -
The bed shifts under Anakin as the younger man moves, and Obi-Wan smiles faintly to himself. Oh. That’s what woke him. He rolls over and pulls Anakin in, tangling their legs together as he pulls his former Padawan into his arms. It’s not as easy as it once was, but he manages, rearranging long limbs and broad shoulders until they’re both comfortable and he can run his fingers easily through Anakin’s riot of dark blond curls.
Obi-Wan tugs on the bond between them, lowering his shields and offering his peace and the simple happiness of having the young Knight nearby as a soothing balm to the other man’s troubled mind.
“It’s alright,” he murmurs softly. “Sleep, Anakin.I’ve got you.”
